Sony have only come out with 2 controllers, so this is indeed v2

No, they quietly changed it a while back. Again better rubber, some differences internally too. They changed the triggers a little bit to make them more stable. I think it broadcast button inputs over usb when charging as well, but that could be this one.

They put them out alongside the slims, although they turned up in the wild a little before to purchase on their own, you had to check the serial numbers though. I know because I went and bought one.

I'd replaced the rubber on my launch controller 3 times by that point. The V2 controller (or v1.5 for arguments sake) is still going strong. I appreciate not everyone is as nerdy as me when it comes to videogames. please, carry on.

You get shop to member discount when buying from their website, don't get that on eBay

These will likely be the V2 type?

Great looking controller...got it on day one at £45, so this is a brilliant price, heat added!

Personally I think it's the best looking PS4 controller, love the two tone black/silver together with the buttons which aren't coloured and GT symbol which is just a classic. Its very minimalistic and not in your face like other game related controllers

Is this the silver ones that chip easily?

You're correct. I was confused as hell when going to repair a couple of 'V1' controllers and the insides were ever so slightly different. In fact, I've seen three different board designs as well as different ribbons and buttons. Very hard to source the correct parts online too!

I had a dodgy PS button. Sometimes it'd work for days without any problem, then it'd inexplicably stop working for like half an hour at a time. This cycle went on for months

Took it apart (first ever attempt) and couldn't see anything obviously wrong: no cleaning required, and the membrane didn't seem out of place.

Put it back together and now the thing won't even charge, haha!

I'm not trying to confuse anyone, I thought it was more widely know they'd made the changes given how widespread the problems with the sticks and the triggers sticking were. I've seen people use "V2" as a shorthand for the revised controllers before. Particularly when looking to buy a secondhand controller on AVforums for instance. In fact there were deals posted here detailing what numbers to look for when searching for one.

Ribbon cable maybe?

Ribbon cable maybe?

Yeah, I wondered. Know the one that gets clipped down? When I took the controller apart on attempts 2 and 3, it had popped out, but it's impossible to say when. Maybe during the invariably violent pulling-the-two-halves-apart process.

There must be some logic to it though, hmm

You are confusing everyone...GT Sport came out 18/10/17, so its quite obvious that this is the latest Dualshock 4. Those previous issues you speak of were ages ago, and have no need to be brought up!

Yes, it's one of the new features. It'll broadcast the inputs over the cable. The older models continued to use Bluetooth even when plugged in.

The old ones would work on a PC via USB too. It's only the PS4 that carried on using bluetooth even when plugged in before the "V2" models.

Also, great price for this! Wish I'd waited and hadn't bought the pack including the game.

Mine did the same, stopped charging. I bought a new USB connector board to install inside and found it fairly easy to do with only a plastic prying tool and a mini screwdriver

Several months ago I purchased a limited edition PS4 console from EU.
The controller that came with it was branded and is the exact same as the new controller you can see for granturismo.
It makes a difference when your console is branded, they give you the best stuff.

Ordered thanks

I have the Crystal DualShock PS4 controller which is the clear one showing the internals of the controller. I think it’s definitely worth having in the collection but only if you can cope with it being a version 1 instead of v2.

will these work with a pc just over bluetooth - with no need for custom receivers or cables ?

Nice cheers. Ordered as will be looking for a Pro in the run up to Christmas and can pass on my old PS4 and both dualshocks to my daughter. Shhh don't tell her

Are people actually using this pad for a racing sim?

Im hearing rumours that all DS4s will be discounted heavily on Black Friday. FYI.

Amazing deal! Heat!

Steam has native support for it now so yes and 3rd party programs exist for non steam games.

To be honest for PC gaming the Xbox controllor is the better choice in my opinion. Windows supports it nativly so it works with everything.

Dual shock is native too, technically. You don’t need drivers.Same goes for macs and Linux.
