A lot!
Dublin Airport to Dublin on free (nice) coach, it picks you up outside arrivals in the coach park. If your ever lost in Ireland, just ask a local, we are the most friendly people and more than happy to help. If you visit anywhere outside Dublin, say hello! We love to chat to people we have never met before, its a strange thing to get used to when a complete stranger tells you what he's been up to today hahahaha.
Get off at Grafton street, visit Temple bar (sign posted) just behind the central bank, the book of kells is next to where you get off in trinity college. Head west to Dublina museum (free entry) I found it a pretty funny Viking and medieval museum after my visit to Temple Bar. Christ Church is next door and free with your pass. Carry on heading along the same road west to the Guinness Factory. You will pass Dublin Castle on your left.
Take a photo at the famous St James Gate then Pass 300 Americans queuing outside the Guinness Factory, with the pass you get immediate free entry (avoided a 1 to 2hr queue) . The best pint in Dublin is pulled on the top floor with amazing views of the city. And even better its FREE (and delicious). If you prefer you can have a soft drink and enjoy the view of where your heading next...
Phoenix Park, (its huge, you cant miss it) is a 5 min walk over the river and take a left, its another 5 minutes to the Wellington Monument, the biggest obelisk in Europe at 203ft on the left, the base is made from melted cannons from the battle of Waterloo depicting the battle. On the right the Irish Presidents House (Looks like the white house) and next to that is the Zoo, which is brilliant, especially for kids and anybody after a Guinness. The Gorilla enclosure is amazing, there is no glass! Just a small stream separating you from a giant silver back. en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…ark
Next your off to the Jamesons factory (Free with pass), all that zoo walking is thirsty work! Best to take a taxi. If you are good at putting your hand up you can volunteer for a 'tasting' session (it will get you drunk) where you compare the taste of different whiskey. Funnily enough they get better with every drink.
The Jameson factory is next to the famous half penny foot bridge (drunk photo opportunity) its just down the road from the main street in Dublin, O'Connels bridge and the spire which is ridiculously tall (try looking up at it after having your whisky) if your lost in Dub its a good point to set as a meet up area, locals affectionately call it the stiffey in the liffey after the floozie in the Jacuzzi was moved. Wander up as there is plenty of Dublin to see on the way, its next to the general post office which is an important historic building en.m.wikipedia.org/wik…lin you get free fast track entry to the An Post Museum, where the Irish constitution is on display.
If you like rugby or football, head towards the sea to the brand new Aviva stadium for a tour. On the way, along the river liffey you can stop to visit the famine ship museum, for free with your pass, its a tall wood ship, you won't miss it. If you want to see real Irish sport north from the spire is Croke Park, the home of Irish GAA, the 4th biggest stadium in Europe and a great roof top walk (good even if you don't like sports) they clip you on so don't worry about your Jamesons legs haha. Head back to O'Connells bridge.
You can stroll south over O'Connell bridge (just follow the crowd) walk past the sculpture of molly malone, (photo opp) you will come to the main shopping street in Dublin Grafton, and Bewleys coffee house on the right, where with your Dublin Pass you get a free coffee and a delicious cake, just the trick to sober up a little.
If you like shopping, this is a great place to explore, the usual shops on the main street with Brown Thomas a Dublin institution, expensive boutiques and real Dublin are tucked away off the main street on the right and if you continue to walk south (away from o'connel bridge) you will find a large beautiful Victorian mall on the right with cheap quirky shops and St Stephens Green on the left, which is a nice stop off point on a Sunny afternoon. The tram (Called the Luas) leaves from outside here, its really cheap, buy your ticket next to the tram stop.
Take the Luas south to Dundrum Town Centre, its a HUGE shopping centre with places to eat outside and plenty of shops for the girls, when you get off the tram just follow the crowd, they are all heading to Dundrum or just ask a friendly local. Find Tescos upstairs at the back, walk outside and on the left past the book shop and outdoor walking shop is a brilliant interactive crazy golf course (free with your dub pass) its open until 11, last T off 10pm so no rush to get there, The kids will LOVE it. I did too after all my Irish water.
There are also LOADS of things to do and big discounts off restaurant bills in Dublin, we got 50% off in a beautiful Thai restaurant with our Dublin Pass. Here's some other things you can do... wait I have written too much already. There's lots of museums and discounts off restaurants and stuff too, Dublin really comes to life at night, theres something for everybody.
If you only have one day in Dublin, this is an awesome do it all in one day plan. To make the most of your time you can take taxis, or if your with Children or your loved one I would recommend a horse drawn carriage, which can be flagged down on the street or outside the Guinness factory. Have a good holiday.

Swim there - it's free
Maybe they've finally realised that the city is disgracefully overpriced.
+ heat

I'd also recommend Ards Forest Park in County Donegal, absolutely beautiful place.
Sail rail tickets are £38 from london or possibly anywhere in england to dublin (eg search london to dublin irish ferries on thetrainline.com). I went on ferry from holyhead. 10 hours of travelling incl. train but it's not unpleasant. Bus in to centre is £3 or 3 euros, they accept both, exact change is your friend. Hailo taxi app works in Dublin too but i didn't try it and pretty much walked everywhere except the dundrum shopping centre (adventure golf) which is a 90minute walk from town centre! Tram was quick 3.70 euro rtn i think.
So i bought the dublin pass in the tourist office when i got there, no real benefit for me ordering in advance. It definitely saves you money and is well recognised, never questioned including skipping queues and free food at bewleys as described which is great. If you want to fit everything mentioned in a day you'd have to sprint through everything and take taxi's i reckon. The rooftop walk stadium tour at the etihad croke park stadium, unlike all the other tours, runs infrequently and last one starts 3:30 i think so if you want to do this plan it, i didn't make it on time. The famine ship last tour is at 4pm which i just made in time. The tour guide was really knowledgable genuine and heartfelt and although not a huge ship he told the stories really well and made it a bigger experience.
The guiness and jamiesons tours are easy to just turn up to and frequent, guiness clearly = dublin and is much more flashy and expensive, both are well worth it. Guiness takes a couple of hours but you could go faster and just sprint to your free pint. Jamiesons is guided takes about an hour no skipping to the end.
I went to the wax museum because its right next to where i bought the pass and included, go round it as fast or slow as you like, more novelty than impressive waxwork but a good laugh.
Bewleys cafe like a lot in dublin could do with a lick of paint but had a decent free coffee and lemon meringue pie. Eeeeeverything seems to shut at 5pm (weekday) and most restaurants or pubs stop food at 21:30 except some fast food and asian restaurants which i found all too expensive - typically 17euros for a main course like a curry. I saw some taste card window stickers so that could make it affordable. Healthy food/fresh fruit/veg was elusive, in fact i didnt find any at all, mostly indian chinese and fast or pub food.
I wasnt going to go to adventure golf but as it was one of few places open past 5 i took the tram and then 500m walk to get to the dundrum shopping centre as it was free to golf. The ponciest thing i could do now would be to review adventure golf so i will: you walk in and think its gonna be amazing with gorillas jumping out at you, its just fake plants and very very basic unimaginative course but hey adventure golf is always fun.
The shopping centre was bustling and looked brand new similar to bluewater or westfield, it was like anything new and shiny was here rather than in dublin city centre, also lots more irish people whereas many dublin city workers semed to be from other countries, it was like people dont own or are not interested in their shops and restaurants so service doesn't seem personal in many places, minimum acceptable amount of good. There are many homeless in the centre, not troublesome towards people but more than i've seen in any other city.
I found a fantastic breakfast and pub in the evening with live traditional music and great busy no fuss atmosphere in baggot street for those who aren't keen on the main temple bar area.
I stayed at the mespil hotel, they didnt mess anything up too badly but didnt care about anything either, in hindsight i'd just go to the cheapest hotel / best location possible, i tried to pay a little extra for a place with good tripadvisor reviews but the reviewers were clearly on crack.
Also went to history museum, one large room, not london but different and good and free for all. I'm probably forgetting other things but overall I had a good time and always wanted to go to dublin and keen to see what more ireland has to offer.
Hope this is useful for at least one other person :-) i was comparing everything to london and my comments may be a bit naive, i'm no expert just a daytripper view without much cultural knowledge.
The Dublin pass has lots more to offer than what has been mentioned and you can have a very different less typically touristy experience with it i'm sure.

If you have time, it takes an extra 10 mins as it stops at a couple but think it was €2.50 each way when I was home a few weeks ago, get the 16 into town. If people don't want to use this offer/aircoacah.

That pass does seem like great value! Might do a power tourism day on one of my next trips home!

+1
Easily done. Last time i went to the Guinness Storehouse was put in the pour-a-pint group with a bunch of girls who didnt like guinness. They gave all their pints to me and my mate! Top tip!
Scary thing is, I bet you only had a couple.
Howth is another nice place to visit for the day if you're in Dublin. It's a wee fishing village. "The Edge" from U2 used to live there. Don't know if he still does.
I may even go for this myself and mingle with the tourists :-)
Tip for you Brits, don't necessarily always stay in and socialise in Temple Bar, it's just for tourists and is a complete and utter rip off and you won't meet genuine Dubs there.
Drop over to the Northside if you wanna meet genuine Dubs and have a beer or 20 and have the craic, sure Dublin is expensive but it's a big place and lots to see and do and you can do it relatively cheap if you know where to go.
Enjoy our fair city.
Slainte
It's expensive but it's certainly not the most expensive city in Europe, would be lucky to make the top 5, Try Copenhagen, Oslo, Milan, Paris, Zurich are all dearer than Dublin.
If you research beforehand and don't always stay in tourist areas like Temple Bar you won't pay outrageous prices.
Another tip, go to O Reillys pub under Tara Street station, 5 minutes walk from O Connell Street and all drinks only €3.40 which is excellent value.

Never been there , but I did go to Glenveagh a couple of years ago whilst I was staying in Letterkenny. Another beautiful part of the world

All the deals are printed in the free mini guide book that comes with your pass.
There are also discounts off 'out of dublin' day trips, with the pass, if you want to get a few days pass and see the rest of Ireland. I didn't try these though.
I think the kids get a soft drink voucher at Guinness. If there is a few of you and you have little ones you can apget a horse carriage to the zoo from outside Guinness. Bargain the price before you get on. Have a good time.
Do they have any snakes? Because they are always saying there are no snakes in Ireland.
Never bothered with aircoach. The Dublin Bus 747 service is good. €10 return.
(edited)
There's no snakes in Ireland.
St.Patrick drove them out with a huge feckin' staff.
Didn't care for the place personally (too many drunks/druggies), but there's enough history there to take in over a day.
