From lions to lemurs and birds of prey to penguins, Dudley Zoo is a real treat for animal lovers. Go wild with excitement and get up close and personal with the most incredible creatures from around the globe, with entry throughout November to see their furry, feathered, slimy and smooth animals! Set in the stunning surrounds of an 11th century castle, this 40 acre zoo boasts more than 1,300 animals and almost 200 species for you to hang out with. Head to their Lemur Wood for a one-acre walkthrough experience and meet more than 30 free-roaming lemurs, explore their Lion Ridge to see their rare Asiatic lions roar or kick back with the penguins to see one of the largest colonies of these South American birds in the UK! On top of that, you’ll enjoy daily talks and open feeding times, as well as learning about the animals, international conservation and breeding programmes that the zoo are involved with. Hungry humans will also be pleased to hear they have picnic areas, food stalls and a restaurant to keep your energy up throughout the day. We’re not monkeying around with this one…

Hmm - been to several zoos recently and this is the only one where I had concerns for the animals' welfare. Interesting architecture and history but it's a zoo from a different era. I won't be going back.

zoo;s the worst place ever for animals. i feel bad for them
Some Animals need to walk / fly miles sometimes 30+ daily, so why lock them up? & out of their normal temperatures?
Awful zoo last time I went there.
I don't know how they rare highly when everyone says the animals seem uncomfortable. I also went and felt the same. They look miserable.

I agree, however wher do you set them free? Man needs to stop killing them first. In March this year, The last wild Northern White Rhino male died, there are 2 females left. This basically would be another great animal extinct, this and many other species, if there werent some that are basically protected by being in zoos.
Zoos need to change still, there are definitely issues with roaming space, but for now they are the only way species are surviving.
