A bit cheaper than the £91 Amazon UK want for it though!

But then, the R2 box is 18 discs and the R1 box is only 11.

The R2 set us currently £34.99 at Network DVD plus £3.60 P&P. Total £38.59

It's a terrible transfer to … It's a terrible transfer to DVDhttp://www.hotukdeals.com/item/596008/due-south-the-complete-series-34-99

Are you saying the Network R2 DVD transfer is better than this R1set?

yes, very much so, plenty of reviews and comparisons all over the net confirming R2 boxset is way better than R1, for once, usually US TV shows gets bad releases over in R2/R4 land.

so if true fan of the series, just have to bite the bullet & pay more I suppose...

Well, doesn't it stand to reason that the same content on 11 discs has to be worse quality than on 18 discs? It must be compressed to fit on that few discs, and therefore worse.

It'll only be 11 discs because it's missing the final 4th series...still a good deal though..but you'll probably have to pay import duty. I bought dvd's from Amazon Canada a few years back and got caught for the duty.

I suppose the most appropriate response is: "Thank you kindly"

The 'missing' fourth season is only due to the way it was promoted internationally, the 11 disc set is complete. I have this R1 set and the Network sets, and the latter is so much better.

not a bad series. lost its way near the end but the last episode was great.

not seen this transfer, but for those who are not massive fans, and perhaps missed it 1st time round its got to be worth a punt at that price. a unique "quirky" comedy/drama.

Guessing you need a dvd player that can play region 1?

Region 1 - Canada & US
Region 2 - EU

No additional Vat or Duty, since it's under £18 before shipping. The exchange rate used is on HM Revenue & Customs website (- currently US$1.6277 to the pound).

One review on amazon that I notice is the quality issue on this set. So it may be cheaper but are you really getting good value?

Great set... if you don't mind VCD quality., September 13, 2008

DUE SOUTH: THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION has got to be the worst quality commercially available DVD I've ever seen. I was really looking forward to watching this series for the first time. 68 episodes for $30 didn't seem suspicious since I figured it's a little-known show that probably underperformed for the DVD studio in season sets, so they decided to burn off their investment in one affordable mega-set. When I saw the first disc my blood ran ice cold: 6 TV hours on one DVD? Okay, most TV sets won't break a 4-episode per disc limit or risk some serious image compression issues. Fancy sets will do 2 or 3 per disc which in my opinion generates a reference quality picture. I thumbed through the rest of the discs and would have laughed had I not broke the manufacturer's shrinkwrap, thereby making a refund impossible: Some discs in this set contain a whopping 7 episodes!!! I skimmed through some of the episodes on disc 1: Despite the fact that this is an older show (pre-HD), and the image is naturally soft, there is expectedly HEAVY PIXELATION. Whenever someone or something moves, they turn into a blob of compression. Cars, people... in this shameful presentation, the show can't even fade out or in from black without turning into a videophile's nightmare. No kidding. Cursing, I inserted a disc with 7 episodes. Morbid curiosity at this point. Alright, the cast can't even walk down a hall without the picture turning into a substandard digital cable parody. I suppose the math of the issue should have occurred to me: 68 episodes divided by 11 discs = VCD quality. Too late. So tell me, Echo Bridge Home Entertainment: What's the point of putting a show on DVD if it would look better on VHS? Thanks for disrespecting what I understand is a truly great show, and thanks for ripping me off. Have a nice day.

R1 collection is availble delivered here for £18.95 + del (approx £23)
