Awesome deal for a temp controlled soldering station. Full review and link to lowest price here: bigl.es/dur…on/

Special price ends January 16th

seems a bargain, good find , just bought one

Temperature controlled does not mean thermostatically-controlled, i.e. it cannot respond to the major changes in load caused during soldering, and hence the temperature will vary wildly. This is a major disadvantage not mentioned in the so-called review (which is hardly impartial as it was done in exchange for a free sample).

Looks good for the price, I will wait till the morning though I always buy stuff when I'm tired and then wonder why in the morning Been thinking about getting a temperature controlled station for a while though.

Do yourself a favour and get a proper thermostatic one, or you're wasting your money.

Probably worth noting that it's not likely to be able to deal with anything beefy e.g. Soldering/desoldering connectors .. but for a tenner for someone playing with assembling little kits and doesn't want to get a shock from the cheap Chinese crap on eBay its worth a punt

It's £10.19 so anyone using this probably won't (hopefully) be doing any real serious repairs.

...and even if someone will want to, he won't be able to. 8W only.

Please can someone recommend what they use or think is better for odd usb charge port repair on phones or tablets maybe once in 2 years.

Could just plug a normal iron into a plug in dimmer, here's one for £4

As said, 8W is a bit light for some things, 25W would have been better. (eg Antex XS25 if you want to treat yourself)

Eight watts for a soldering iron is obviously a definition of the word "good" that I haven't previously encountered.
