Just read that in the description, pretty useless for that reason.

TBH, it did just what I needed it to do which was load Norton etc so ideal for me and imagine there are others who need a cheap external CD-ROM to go with the increasingly popular (and improved) Net/Notebooks.

I have bought a DVD/RW for about £12 or so from eBay UK seller. OK the make is not big but it does the job for netbook. however, still voted hoted on the basis it's under a tenner from a reputable company e.g. amazon

Sorry, but this an obsolete product. You can't even run driving test dvd's. So think not at all useful in these blu ray's generation

Bit silly, the tech is almost obsolete. Even at a tenner it's too much. Local computer shops will probably give you some CD drives for free (and an enclosure would be cheap).

£20 on dabs for External USB DVD-ROM - rather pay the extra £10

I can just imagine walking into PC World saying BooshHead from HUKD said you'd quite likely give me a cd drive as he thinks they're obsolete. Not all of us have access to techies and still need this type of tech.

yeah just cd is pointless nowadays, rape an external hard drive for the circuit then you can use any sata device to usb you want..

Yup pointless get a dvd Rom

I've note voted, but anyone considering buying this should check out the customer reviews; there's a lot of one star reviews saying it doesn't work.

Hot deal, i think. Not everyone needs dvds. Bear in mind also that this will play music cds, which is often what netbook owners crave.

Really? In the day of iTunes and Amazon MP3 (as well as a few less legal sources) people want to carry an exteral cd drive and a bunch of cd albums around with them?

Nutters.

How can people say that CDs are becoming obselete when nearly every record label still uses them for their records!!!!!
