Possibly for the software, but this does not have the hardware to capture the video initially, where as the DVD Maker 2 does.

If you scroll down there's a little video telling you more about how it works.
I have loads of family movies on VHS little tapes and would like to move them to dvd and sounds like you can with this product. Just a little unsure about how much memory you'd need on your comp.
