Found this whilst looking for a DVD player, cheapest player I could find altogether online and it supports XviD, plus it seems to be progessive scan.

Its a DVD player. It doesn't print money or washes the dishes either. What other pointless features did you expect for £16?

I have a Xenta (the USB version) and also a Smasung P9 I think it is and comparing the two I would say that for the money it is fine, plays everything required, the on screen display could be a lot better thought out but it does the job.
Wouldn't swap it for the Samsung as the main player tho

Having a usb port is very handy if you want to make use of the xvid capability.

I wouldn't buy a dvd player without a USB port no matter how cheap it was.

Thought you were a bit of a numpty as I am looking for a cheap dvd player that will do for the outlaws who are in their 70's and have no use ( like most of the population ) for the usb compatability.

HOWEVER

on looking at the xenta, I see that you can play dvd photo albums on it as well, which will be handy and where I shall spend my money.

So what I'm getting around to saying ( eventually ) is thank you, rep added ( to you and the original op) You pays your money and makes your choice.

Sounds good - but that one (with the USB) is (a) expired and (b) does not say it's multiregion.

Any price on one that is cheap, multiregion AND has USB?

Searh for sumvision phoenix premium available sub £30 on scan (if you have free delivery) or ebay.

THIS IS NOT MULTI REGION. I have one. I bought it less than a month ago. The website details are incorrect. It should say multi language. Very misleading. To make this player region-free, do the following:

1. Press 'setup' on the remote

2. Type '9735' on the remote

3. The current region will appear at the top right

4. Press left/right on the remote to change the region to '0' then press setup again

The Xenta with the usb that I got also has hdmi out & is multiregion.

and this DVD player is advocating it!

So if you have a player with a usb port could you use it to play stuff stored on the pc hard drive??

Well with this one if you had any xvid movies (avi files) you would have to burn them to disc to play them, but if it had a USB port you could just copy them to a memory stick and play them from that - much more convenient. Same for music and photos.

Hmmm I was going to go for this til I seen it wasn't REALLY multi-REGION and the "unlocking" thing someone posted also doesn't work.

I've got a few multi-region discs, like special US versions of DVDs etc. But when my last DVD player broke I stupidly bought a Sony DVD player in its place that I couldn't make multi-region.

Quite like the idea of getting a multi-region player that has the ability to play AVI files...

Most of these cheaper DVD players CAN be made to be multi-region via a code, i'm surprised that the previously posted info isn't working.

I dare say I could find the correct info if the site actually had more info than "Xenta DVD Player"....

Is there a model number anywhere?

Edit: Ok so I found the model number (going blind) are we sure the posted info doesn't work? I seem to be finding the same info posted in A LOT of places by people saying it works just fine for them....

as it say on ebuyer site "and multi region playback" I think they need shooting if it isn't actually multi regional out of the box.
