Voted hot!

Going to hook this up to my projector!

Does anyone lose power these days? Last time we had a power cut was about 5 years ago and I can't remember the time before that!

ours is tripping out all the time - it's a new house - a bulb going can cause the consumer unit to trip

Also handy for places with keymeters that you forget to check... Voted hot!

It's not just about power loss - these devices provide a 'clean' power supply that eliminates many of the normal spikes you PC has to absorb.

We have had about 2 in my area this year. Half the Shops in my high street were without power for 2 hours a fortnight ago. Plus I have a keymeter and sometimes forget to top it up in time.

Fair enough, I guess for some people these have a real good use. Not for me tho! Good price all the same.

Surely it should only trip the lighting circuit involved?

It's important to note that this UPS doesn't do that - it's an offline UPS (as indicated by its Ebuyer category) which means that it only kicks in upon power failure.

If you want a UPS that effectively acts as a 'buffer' and provides a clean supply output, you require an online UPS - there's a number listed under the category at Ebuyer.

This is still well priced for basic needs however

Don't you get an emergency limit, so you can't usually 'run out' ?

I have been considering something like this for my Fridge Freezer and boiler/pump. Other items in mind are tv/sky, hi fi. and of course my pc. Can afford 4/5 units at the moment though.

Both are on surge protected sockets. But I have had at least 3 power outages of between 1 and 2 hours in the past year.

Am sure boiler pump would last long enough on a unit like this.
Need to check fridge freezer power consumption.

Trouble with some ups is they beep not stop when power goes off. Could be quite irritating. Used UPS's before and found had to replace batteries almost annualy.
