Our NHS bought these in thousands and complain that they are in loss
I have had one, while they look nice they are pretty poor at moving air. They are quiet but i agree with people who say that you can get better fans much cheaper than this.

This blows

But on a serious note... Ridiculous price. Surely this is AC money territory?

£400 for something to move air? You couldn't make it up.

Well Dyson did, and people fall for it.

Only thing I think is more overpriced than these are their hair dryers. Emperors new clothes
We have an AM06 and 2 AM09s , paid nothing like retail got them from Dyson Outlet on an eBay extra 20% off weekend.

the AM06 is okay for a small room. The AM09s are superb as you have wide or narrow settings and for what they kick out they are very quiet, the hot setting is really impressive too .

I wouldn’t pay prices in this deal tho, I wasn’t keen on the prices I paid (under half price) but wouldn’t be without the AM09s

Only the most expensive model does, but that retails for 500 big ones

Where can Dyson go next then? What needs re-inventing cos it's got some long standing fault that only Dyson can figure out..

I know! The Dyson Wheel!
I have a Philips AC3259/60 Air Cleaner, paid £300 instead of £450 on a deal. It is an air purifier and controls humidity. Doesn’t really blow a lot of cold air but just makes room air clean and comfortable, also WiFi and compatible with air matters app. So controllable from phone/tablet. Streets ahead of this.

They already did that, that was one of his first, just google the dyson wheel barrow and look at its wheel.

Lol... everyone on hukd is used to those £14.99 fans. Heat from me though
Heat. Dyson are miles better

Well, he started out reinventing the wheelbarrow by replacing the wheel with a ball
Great desk fan. Super quiet and constant gentle breeze.

Overpriced? Definitely. But nothing else does that job as well.

Yes different but I’d rather have mine. This is a fan and their hair dryer is, a hair drier. Dyson are all overpriced. As far as pure cool vs Philips, not miles ahead in reviews I checked and not miles ahead In actual use and certainly not miles ahead in area of coverage.

Mr. James Dyson would like to thank you personally, and any other dweebs who share the same attitude. He sends that message from one of his palatial mansions, Dodington Park in Gloucestershire set in 700 acres of parkland.

Pro-Tip: The Dyson brand is just a marketing gimmick; an 'aura' if you will. Not a revolution in home appliances. Divert your money into something more worthwhile.

Was surprised to see one in a waiting room at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary last week - couldn't see/feel any difference vs a standard fan.

Correct, a fan is a fan, it can’t cool air, it doesn’t have that capability. Not much different to blowing through a straw. An air purifier will filter the air and control humidity. If you have humidity controlled you will be more comfortable even when it’s hot. Oh and a hairdryer..... blows hot air, £20-£30 should do it. I have a Dyson cordless vac, it’s crap compared to my Henry and cost 3 times as much.
The Apple of fans.
I'm looking for a fan, as mine packed in today. Typical really, when I'm already half dead on the hottest day of the year (annoyed). But this is ridiculously expensive as are most of their products, and I'd never buy from Dyson anyway even if it is a good price.
I have one and it works perfect for us. We have the more expensive one with the air purifier built in and also gives off warm air too, aswel as being able to control through app on phone. I don’t see how people say these are no good. Yes a bit over priced but they do give off loads of cool air. Also helps fiancé with his sinus problems too...

I work in the NHS and I was always astonished to see these fans everywhere in the hospital. It makes my blood boil when I remember that we had pay freeze for the last 8 years claiming that there is not enough money
We have 4 Dyson fans, 2 of these and 2 towers, absolutely love them, the new ones are definitely much better, we hardly ever need to go over level 4 setting (I don't even know what the top setting is), very little noise and they cool the house really well.

We've had cheaper fans, and compared them side by side, in order to get the same amount of cool air the noise level is soo loud on the cheaper fans, hubby works from home and he had to turn the fan off every time he made a phone call. You can sleep with these on and hardly notice any noise (unlike cheaper fans).

I have voted hot, once you have a Dyson, you will never go back
What's with the Dyson cult in this country, overpriced crap
I’d rather be hot than pay that for a fan!
Overpriced .... Blow out the same as a normal fan,

I simply detest all these firms cashing in on a few days of heat. EG.. Lidl has a fan on sale today for 39.99
really!!!!!!!! ........................ Seven weeks ago price was circa 19.99.

i'm getting off my soapbox now
I think everyone is missing the point why the NHS ordered these by the boat load. It's hygiene related, how hard is it to clean a fan and the blades? (it's a pain in the arse). As these are bladeless and there is a lot less surface area, they are a lot easier to clean. Doesn't mean I agree with it though.

With the weather we're currently experiencing, opening a window makes no bloody difference whatsoever!

Hahahahahahaha, apparently that's the logic behind it.
I bought a refurb AM07 off the dyson store for shy of £200 a few years back and love it. I sleep with a fan every night.

With a traditional bladed fan I would get disturbed by the air buffering between the blades and often i would overheat because of the inconsistency of the air.

With the dyson the air is constant so I don't get disturbed and i stay cool all night.

Worth every penny for me.
G8spur are you famous? . You say that you sleep with a fan every night. Lucky you!! Lol.
