If you're renting you may not necessarily be allowed to drill into the walls

Some people may be in rented accommodation and not allowed / want to mount to a wall
Had ours for about 18 months and works really well
Yep... That's what we have
Had a quick look on eBay before listing this one... Going for around £25 atm (might be that I missed a cheaper option :))

nice one... especially with the £10 voucher you have
I don’t have a socket where it needs to go in the utility yet. It’s a Taylor wimpey house with concrete floors so to run a new socket I either have to empty the room upstairs to lift the carpet and cut a hatch in the floor, or cut through the plasterboard in the ceiling of the utility so locate the cables. Both options gonna take time. So at the moment it’s in the kitchen table area temporarily and this suits rather than disturbing the freshly painted wall and can be easily removed when guests are in. Who wants to eat next to a vacuum.
I know that offer is for selected accounts but might help someone. Roov have reinstated their points scheme so some may benefit from that. I have a £2.50 voucher to redeem still.(y)
This might be a daft question, but couldn't it just temporarily go where there is a socket in the utility?
This is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen... I'd imagine it's also not the most stable of things, I certainly wouldn't fancy having kids near it with a top heavy Dyson hanging off it... I'd love to know how many Dysons have been smashed by one falling over - anybody? I suppose you could screw the stand to a wall...
The only current sockets are above the worktops.
We've had ours for around 18 months... Not dropped / knocked over once (with 2 kids and 2 cats in the house). Maybe we are lucky
Oh no, you've said it now! 😳😁
Ordered, thanks.
Maybe they don’t want to attach anything to their wall. This stand is portable so you can put it anywhere. So many reasons really
I suppose... You wouldn't want anybody to miss out on seeing something so beautiful in your house.
Astronauts.
Then why do you need to pull the upstairs flooring up or cut into the ceiling plasterboard? If there are sockets above the worktops then you can just run an extra socket off of those to the desired location. As a new build, all sockets will be on the ring main so you can easily run a single spurred socket without it needing to be fused.
The sockets are on the opposite wall of the room to where we specifically want it. The ring main cables are in the ceiling and drop down to each socket on the ground floor, as the floor is concrete. I appreciate you trying to help but it’s honestly not required. Was just making the point as to why this stand may be handy for a situation.
Gotcha. Couldn't quite visualise it. We bought a new build a few years ago and the positions of the sockets really weren't thought out very well, it's annoying. They just slap them in without thinking where things might be put in the rooms. In the lounge we had to re-do it completely and move the radiators, the sockets and the TV aerial points all to different places!
It reduces risk of things going wrong, eg while putting nail/screws in wall, you went through electric cable or water pipe.....will be hassle to sort out & costly too. If you can do anything to prevent that as a landlord, you would do so.
Fair enough, makes sense
'Schnifffler': "People who say Vacuum when they mean Hoover. Vacuum is a brand name."
It's the other way around: Hoover is the brand, vacuum (no capital 'v') is what the appliance does. And, vacuum has also become established/commonly accepted usage to refer to what the aplliance is
No. I bet you say Public Address System when you mean 'tannoy'.
What?
"No" to Hoover being the manufacturers/brand? "No" to vacuum being what the appliance does? Or, just "no" you can't bear that you got it wrong when trying to find fault with what someone else wrote?
Either way, yes you've failed. Trying to now pick a fight/find fault with me has dug you in deeper
