This is not all floors. Recently bought (and returned to Makro because of this)

Cannot stop the rotating brush - when you open instructions it tells you only suitable for carpets

Need DC07i for all floors (or other dyson types)

also do you think currys will do price match

Yes, if the store which is in a 10 mile radius of Currys have stock

Very good price for a Dyson. Old model, but great if you have carpets.

What bloddy use is a carpets-only vacuum cleaner? Go for a Henry instead. Them things would survive a nuclear war. (I actually have both a Dyson and a Henry and I know which I prefer.)

That is a very good price i wish i had seen this before i bought this one off Debenhams! heat added!
This is for volume69:
debenhams.com/web…_-1
I bought this vacuum cleaner DC07 Dyson £190. I used all the voucher codes on the other posting in vouchers section and this brought the cost down to £161.50 plus quidco i saved another £6.46

grand total £155.04
It has brush control where you can turn the brush bar on and off for delicate rugs etc

you can use the wand on these on hard floors (I do as inheirted one from my Mum when she moved last")

Huh? That a serious question?
I've got one of these, and they're ace. If you've never had a Dyson, you'll be disgusted the first time you use it, changes the colour of your carpet.

if you're amazed by a dyson, you should see a kirby

i was shocked by the amount the dyson left behind

hot is this nationwide

Got this vac. Hate it, wish i'd stuck with the £40 tesco one. Suction is ok, but very noisy, cumbersome, cant get into corners or under things easily.

Good price though, I paid £140 2 years back.

Been using this machine for about 18 month now, it's good at it's job but be warned it is very noisy and drives me up the wall.
Cracking price though.

I've got a Henry and a Dyson and the Henry is rubbish on carpets. The Henry is great for real messes and DIY but because it doesn't have a powered beater brush it doesn't clean home carpets properly and normal domestic carpets will wear out quicker because of this.

I paid that for newer model DC14 more than 3 years ago, so I think not! Can't understand the problems at all though - it was trying out a relative's DC07 that convinced me to buy mine! Upright vacuum cleaners are much of a muchness for getting under furniture, and the Dysons have an edge brush so edges and corners are not a problem.

This is still a good price for a DC07, as old a model as it is, although if you have extensive hard floors, then the upright models (of any brand) are not the right choice anyway, the cylinder-type ones are the ones to go for there!
If you have carpets, and particularly with pet hair, then the upright brush head models are right, and for this they are superior to ANY brand of cylinder or canister vacuum cleaner, as that type just does NOTHING for pet hair and fluff on carpeting or upholstery, however powerful!

Not the lightest machines, although their long hose means they don't need lugging about to do stairs. The first time you use one, do it in private, not with your best friend or mother in law present, because the amount of filth they pull out of the carpets is positively embarrassing!

Agree totally, with the proviso that carpets full of grit & muck down at the base of the pile wear fastest of all, so good vacuum cleaning is still the best way to make them last

Just a quick tip:

When you pull the little yellow handle to empty the dirt out into your bin, make sure you have a look inside the large yellow cyclone assembly.
I find there is usually a collection of filth inside the central chamber that tends not to drop out without a little persuasion.
Doing so will help to keep the suction levels as they should be.

I replaced one of these with a Bissel Lift Off, it kicked the Dysons behind. I will never buy a Dyson again.

My Dyson broke (2nd one) bought a Sebo which although ££ is far better made

I have the DC25 - very expensive (over £200) considering the main advantage is the manouverability around the ball, but suction is excellent. So if the DC07 uses the same suction technology, should be a good buy at this price.

Which one, don't keep me in suspense!!!!

I bought my reconditioned DC04 (grey, green and purple) from an independent guy for £40 with 6 months warranty that covered everything (he actually said to me in the shop, you can throw it down the stairs, then come and tell me what you did and it would still be covered by the warranty.....?) 6 months ago, does the job fine, and as said, the 'wand' is good for your hard floors, also good for hoovering the motor out

Was after a Dyson for my daughter so rang all of the Matalan's within a 25 mile radius having gone through the voice based menus each time and none of them had any. Its a good offer if there are any in stock, but how many have it?

I have carpet on the stairs and in one of the bedrooms and my Henry is fine.
We have the wool carpet that looks similar to hessian so a beater brush would probably ruin it and the dirt/grit sort of floats on the top of it.
I did have a Dyson many years ago and found it couldn't compare with a Henry, plus the fact I could never bring myself to line Sir James's pockets.

Beware Dyson build quality is not that great, may last 2 years tops.
Henry is a good little worker will last 5 years + easy.

Dysons are like VW's. Everyone who has a ford/hoover thinks they are good, buys one and finds out it is just about as good as the ford/hoover but more expensive.

Having said that it is a good deal compared to other dysons.

I agree, but that's just because of your very poor analogy! I would put VW very much in the same barrel as Ford & Hoover, as the VW quality/reliability thing is surrounded by nearly as big a myth as the one around Sony - 1% better if you are lucky, and at least 20% dearer! I used to fall for this "name" thing - then I got older, poorer and a LOT wiser!

I would say it is more like Woolworth goods were... looks a bit tacky, you think it is going to drop to bits on the first use, but it turns out far better than it looks & once you try it, you wonder for weeks if your friends have been talking about how dirty your house used to be!

As proof that I am basing my Dyson preference on performance rather than appearance, I would put my cards on the table and say I would not be looking FIRST at Dyson to repolace mine - I would be looking at the brand to "gamble" with - Bissell.
Bissel says cheap American designed, far east made tat to me.... (more pound shop than Woolworths!) but if I was replacing my Dyson, I would have to check out the Bissell machines as they are potentially so cheap, and so many on here say they are so good. I find it it hard to believe, they look like something from a satellite TV info-mercial, but I am no fan-boy for ANY "names", & brands mean much less to me than function - I look for the evidence that they are good or bad. Maybe I will be disappointed, but I would be very drawn to try them first.

These "Henry" vacuums... well who hasn't tried them - they have been around just about every office I have been in, and while I never cleaned the office up much, just a few spills and odds and ends to pick up, I have used them many times - no doubt they are cheap and reliable, but for sheer cleaning power? No, they are just noisy canister vacuum cleaners, and perform like every other canister cleaner. Great for picking up garage junk or builders mess, & not so bad on hard floors, but hopeless for stairs as they don't balance on the tread, and for carpets? Like every other cylinder or canister cleaner, a Dyson will just about overflow with the bucket loads of muck it pulls up after used on a well used carpet that has been vacuumed only with this sort of cleaner! Not even in the running!

I have had two of these Vacuum's in the last 3 years, both have periodically broke down (1 not working just now), I have purchased Dyson from when they first came onto the mainstream market each time hoping that they would be more reliable, however experience has shown that they haven't and I would never waste that sort of money again on one. Its a good price for it, but don't expect them to last. It is a good cleaner just not reliable.

I have just bought one of the Bissell Cleaners ]HERE for half the price and expect it to last twice as long. They are out of stock just now but expect to fulfill orders within 28 days.

+1 I am a bissell convert too, got two bissel vacs and carpet shampooer ttoo. We got the lift-offs for £30 each as recons 18 months ago and only needed 1 filter change each in that time.

Damn you lot mentioning bissell bargains, just spent another £112 on there:x

just been into manchester branch and got the DC19 model for same price, last one
is this model better than dc07?

Just to add to the debate I bought 'Hetty' the hoover (Henry) for 61.05 delivered from Littlewoods, seems to be marked Expired now.

hotukdeals.com/ite…e-/

Had a couple of Dyson's in the past, won't have one again. They are the Apple of the hoover world.

Like I say, tried Henry cleaners... can't see anything remotely special about them other than they seem to last fine, which is fair enough for their intended use, and as I said, it is the Bissel range I would be drawn toward trying now from sheer volume of recommendation on this site; but I can't see what the Dyson "problem" is, and no-one is actually saying! - there is a lot of "don't like them" type comments but what is wrong/faulty/broken? My own experience of them is performance and longevity are excellent, and family and friends all find the same. Not one problem. OK a bit expensive, but to be honest in the range of vacuum cleaner prices, nothing that ridiculous, especially when coupled with a good offer somewhere!

As someone who is not an Apple-type person at all, it isn't looks that attract me to the Dyson range, if anything they are completely garish and stupid looking, and as it just gets stuffed in the cupboard, who cares about looks -just WHAT is the specific functional problems you have found with those previous machines?
