wrong one then it says 199.99

also just got home and realised that they must have put the wrong labels on the vacuums as ive been given the dc40 which is £320 for 199.99. boom. the number on the box is for the dc25 animal but someone must have labeled em wrong. bonus

Nice

Maybe a silly question but did you have to trade in your old one or not?

just been myself same as y am u buying this got the dc40 which was £399 with trade in £319 but i purchased for £199 result it should have been the dc25 and no trade in

they didnt ask me for my old cleaner mate

no mention of my old cleaner. and mine is also the dc40, although receipt says dc25.

excellent deal.

Wonder if it will affect the 5 year warranty though, as receipt states dc25 and not dc40. Hope it doesnt!

Which store mate?

Timbo01

Which store mate?

Gave out dc40 at Doncaster, Wheatley store. Sounds like others may be too.

Same just happened for me. Paid for a DC25 and got a DC40. No part exchange needed either.

£199. Cheers OP

Mine was in Manchester BTW

Yep - confirmed.

Ordered the DC25 for £199.99 and they gave me a DC40

Really pleased with that!

Thanks everyone!

but is the DC40 better than the DC25? DC40 looks lighter and poorer reviews on net? I have DC32 animal looking to change, DC32 has been excellent mind

well picked one up (DC40) and it pretty good :-)

I'm not sure, but happy with it anyway. Always impressed to see how much dust they pick up when new! Didn't realise we were that mucky"

Shall I ring up Argos and let them know? As I don't think the 5 year guaranty will be valid as it days Dc25 on receipt. Doubt they will want it back anyway as I have already used. Just need then to give me new receipt with dc40 on it.

I was advised a substitute might me given and if that was OK, pretended to have little think and then said gone on then

anyone else ball slight off center when moving?

Thanks brilliant deal heat added.
Just picked one up at Netherfield for parents DC40 substituted despite receipt saying DC25.
If you have Lloyds or Halifax may be able to get everyday offers discount on top

Forgot to add no trade in required

I took mine back, it had a minor fault with the ball, but mainly because I cleaned my DC32 and it went back to as new performance which was better than the DC40 so was no upgrade.

I mentioned to Argos the potential issue with warranty and they stated that Dyson had told them to substitute the DC25 with the DC40! Clever way to get rid of stock of higher RRP without discounting too much.

The quality of the DC40 leaves a lot to be desired, plastics quality has dropped, the pipe is very poor quality.

But if you need a vacuum for the money its not bad, but defiantly not as powerful as the older animals

All out of stock in my area

Seems to be £199.99 on Dyson website as well

What a fantastic and very informative review, I'm sure Which magazine will be contacting you imminently

Everybody will hate me for this but.. Dysons are crap, they fall apart & need replaced after a few years. Cleaners from the 70's are still happily working away while this plastic monstrosity will fall to pieces like our old dc01 & dc04. (It took us a while to learn)

So we must be imagining ours is still doing a very good job and is all in one piece over 5 years later.

We've had one of these for 5 years. We've two rather hairy dogs and a couple of cats and its been great. They're easy worked at and the one problem we did have was self inflicted and there was a fix for it on youtube. Parts are easy got too.

to be fair on Dyson, our DC32 is 3 years old and now its been properly cleaned working as good a s new, nothing has broken either and been used a fair bit, but the DC40 I had for a day quality seemed poor overall, the quality of the plastics as dropped, which seems to be echoed in other peoples reviews. I was hoping for an upgrade, but did'nt get one despite the good price, but pleased as I feel I have a new Dyson after i took the DC32 apart and fully cleaned it.

Well I'm not so careful with mine & at the price these things cost they should take a battering. The curved handle on the front snapped off, the green swivel cover fell off the top of the top main handle, the accessory holder on the back broke & I had to take the cleaner apart and fix a break in the cable as it enters the cleaner... And the extendible hose on the back fell to bits. Apart from that its been great (_;)

just because it is expensive does not mean that it can take a battering

I am assuming your car looks like the unbreakable one from Top Gear.......
