Just accidently blown up my vacuum cleaner. Spotted and ordered this. Seems like a big reduction. Hopefully it might be of use to someone else too.

What a rubbish vacuum! A Numatic or Henry vacuum can be bought much cheaper.

Heat added for the price reduction though

I've had 2 in the last 12 years (just ordered this - my third) so maybe they are rubbish or maybe I'm just really tough on them.

Costco members may want to check out their local branch. Can't remember which exact Dyson Animal it was but it was around the £150 mark.

Dc50 is better for £20-50 more

Dc50 same price on coop electrical

better with the dc50, the dc40 is harder to empty and clean and of you want to use the hose to clean the stairs all it does is fall over

But the dc50 is tiny.

I have a DC50 for upstairs and a DC40 for downstairs. The DC50 is not suitable for a whole house unless you want to be emptying the bin constantly, the hose on it is also too small for the stairs, im lucky if i can get to 1/3 of the stairs with it's hose. The the handle on the DC50 also doesn't feel that stable to me. The small ball which replaces the DC50 is a better model as it has a longer power cord, longer hose and a metal handle which provides better stability. I got the DC40 as the dyson engineer who was fixing my DC33 said it was a good all round for general cleaning and so far it has been alright just a little heavy like most dyson's are. The DC50 is more suited to a person living in flat or older people who need a lite vacuam to lift and move around
