Light and durable. Strong suction at the cleaner head.
DC40 has a self-adjusting cleaner head that seals in suction on carpets and hard floors. There’s no need to turn awkward dials or press buttons.
Dyson cyclones are more efficient than others – more dust and dirt is flung out of the airflow and into the bin.

Thanks OP. These are well rated on the energy label too - mostly As with one B.

They also have the DC41 Mk2 for an additional £6 - went for that one.

Its got a larger waste storage, bit more powerful but heavier, longer cord etc. Also some improved components.
I think this is the link to the DC41 (harder when using the eBay app!)

Great energy rating
Just got mine delivered and used it on the weekend. very nice deal.
Are aftermarket parts readily available for this like the dc07?
"DC40 has a self-adjusting cleaner head that seals in suction on carpets and hard floors. There’s no need to turn awkward dials or press buttons".

Well TBH the User Guide indicates not to use the brush head on a hard floor. Since ours always starts the brush head when the vacuum is first turned on, you do have to press the button to stop the brush when going to hard floor. Plus when on a hard floor you can alter the power of the suction - by bending down near ground level and moving a sliding switch to your desired position. So the quote is not quite true.
They should rename from Dyson to "overpriced innovations"
Always fancied one of these since my DC10 wont last forever. Should I be concerned that they've had 4000 returned for them to refurbish and resell??
Get a Shark instead. You won't go back to Dyson.

At least the vacuum cleaners are fairly decent. It was the £300 fan that got me laughing.
do u still open the brush bar with a coin?
Not deal related but I wouldn't touch dyson anymore purely on the Brexit stance of James Dyson. Miele are superior anyway.
I'm not sure I'd want someone's second hand vacuum cleaner in my house - and pay over £100 for the privilege. I have Vax machines in all my houses, each purchased when the company has sales for about half the cost of this second hand one. Vax customer and after sales service is excellent and the machines work very well indeed, so I'm afraid this deal is cold from me as Dyson are very poor value.

Quite so-- I'd be interested in knowing whether dyson will return the £1.6 m he received in agriculture subsidies from the eu last year-- or distribute it to rather less well off land owners/ farmers than himself-- and £299 for his hair dryer what that about? I think we know what Sir James voted for!

Not to mention that Miele doesn't follow this retarded design - pulling the entire heavy appliance across the floor while all you need is a brush.

£100+ for someones second hand vacuum.

Dyson were crap when new never mind reconditioned, Used to be a decent product but manufacturing now moved resulting in cheap plasticly overpriced products which are not worth the money.

I bought this new once and then the DC41 and returned both of them back to the store.
