Not the absolute. This is £249.99

Its the same machine without the tools really as the animal but as I've said before phone dyson they will give you the tool kit for free over the phone 2 years guaranteed and for £199.

The absolute is £249.98 however you get a free tool and they automatically register your dyson. Which saves you having to do this if you purchased elsewhere.
The tool kit is excellent to have I think you really need in hand for edges around room, stairs, blinds also for cleaning car.

The v6 animal is £199. I have this and am super happy a year on.

I have the older version of the v6 animal. Dc45 or something like that. Looking for an upgrade.

Absolute has the 50w motorised head as opposed to the standard 20w which the Animal has. Obviously this will affect battery life, so you've got to consider the options carefully. I went for the V6 Total Clean as an in-between which has the 30w head, again via dyson/eBay (could be 35, can't remember).

This is a cracking machine. Bought mine new about 6 weeks ago for £259 which seemed a good deal at the time very happy with the machine a bit miffed that I seem to have bought a fraction too early.

Like zippypratt I thought long and hard about Absolute vs Total Clean. Absolute has extra exhaust filter (not interested), more powerful head but a non-rotary hard floor head (Which review says it didn't clean any better than standard head on hard floor). The next generation (V8) all have the fluffy head which comes with total clean; and testing Total Clean I felt it is was powerful enough so went for that via Dyson Outlet - good as new and 1 year guarantee registered as two online (no idea if it will be honoured after a year, but big cost saving) stores.ebay.co.uk/Dys…let

Are these terrible noisy have old big dyson makes a right noisey!!

Thanks

I got the V8 animal from argos (don't know if still on offer) not owned a V6 but personally I wouldn't want anything with less power than the V8.

Noise is subjective I know but from my experience, it's not too noisy. I even use it when there are people around talking if it's a quick one. And even at night I can use it downstairs when family is sleeping upstairs

Wrong, from Dyson website all v6 have 20min normal and 6min on high suction so I would assume the powerful ones have bigger batteries, hence the price

For people who can't decide if it's worth it. I bought the absolute when there was a deal here from ebay. After a few months of usage I'm very happy with it. Anytime I spot something to clean, I take the v6 and clean. I never did that with the conventional bulky hover where you have to plug. It cleans my carpet better than my old hover because of the Rotary head. It's makes a very big difference. I always use the Rotary head whether it's hard flooring or carpet. And one other thing I like, the v6 has very good filter so even when cleaning the carpet you hardly see dust all around the house. I am writing this because it took me a while before I decide to buy it and want to make your decision easier. I couldn't be happier with v6 absolute

Thanks for replying. I've been watching loads of reviews and comparisons and most of them said they can't see a noticeable difference in performance between the v6 and v8. Does the animal have the soft head for doing hardfloors? It's the battery life of the v8 and the bigger container that's swaying me rather than suction

Look at the features section. Up to 16 minutes with the motorised head attached. Some of us do read up before we buy you know.

I never said 20min was for motorised head, normal head...
And using motorised head will be 16min whether it's basic or absolute.
Did you just feel like saying I was wrong because I said your comment was???

Bummer, the V6 total clean is not in stock in eBay anymore! Not happy!
Really wanted the motorised rotating head.

how much difference are the two heads between absolute and total clean?

If I phone Dyson to ask for V6 animal, do they include the head as in the total clean as a gift?

I bought this for £214.99 late August. Delighted with it. Have never vacuumed so much in my life. It was such a chore before. I use the motorised head for most of the house. I use the hard floor tool for my laminate (kitchen, dining area, another room) and also bathroom tiled floors. I use the small motorised head for the stairs. I use the edge tool for edges. Only one I don't really use is the one that has a small round brush. I don't quite get what that's for, maybe skirting which I use a duster for.

This is a great deal at £188.99. I got an email about it and was just about to post but did a search and found this post first. I highly recommend. I bought my mother in law the normal V6 for Christmas, she's pleased with it. She has a smaller house, and less hard flooring and no stairs, so I thought it would be adequate for her.

No, just because you are lol. Without the motorised head fitted, they all run for 20 mins. The motorised head on the animal is only 20w, and you still get 20 mins when using it. With the total clean it's 35w and gives you 16 mins, and the absolute is 50w and gives you 14 mins. They don't have different batteries, as per your assumption earlier. I'm not being arsey bud, just trying to keep the info right for people to base their decisions on. You are right in that they are very similar machines, bar they just have differing tools/heads that come with them that in turn affect how long they can operate between charges.

Cheers bud, glad you're enjoying your absolute, nearly went for that model, but went for total in the end and am very happy with it.

Got the absolute yesterday. Very satisfied with it.
looks brand new. registered as 2 years warranty.
MAX suction was strong, probably not as strong as my Henry, but couldn't complain much.
way too more convenient.
VERY easy to clean

Got mine today, performed very well indeed on first use. The way the heads pivot and and angle was very nice too. The only time I had to knock it up to Max was when using a crevice tool on some well worn in dirt at the base of some table legs. Pretty quiet too, comparable to a hair dryer on max.

My only minor criticism is that it felt a little uncomfortable to hold after a while, maybe I'll get used to it, but it felt like I could end up with a blister at the base of my thumb if I used it for too long. Would benefit from a lock so you don't have to squeeze the trigger constantly. Also, part of the drum that collects the dirt was a pain to empty fully, had to poke the dirt to dislodge it.

It's a shame the dock can't accommodate all the tools as well, but that's not really much of an issue.
