Dyson v6 absolute model. UK price is around £399, Amazon.de price is around £250 delivered (35% cheaper!).

Amazon.de link: amazon.de/gp/…VSG
(359 EUR)
Amazon.fr link: amazon.fr/Dys…VSG

Note that the UK "Absolute" variant has one more attachment that the German/French version does not have: a mini motorised tool (useful for car carpets etc). That part costs around £35, so still saving more than £100 when comparing "like for like", with the same attachments.

The V6 absolute comes with:
* the direct-drive motorised head (improved motorised floor brush of a larger diameter.
Note: this is the 50w version, only available on European/UK Absolute models. Some other European/UK models (as well as the US Absolute version) only have the less efficient 35w version.
* a post-motor filter (only available on the Absolute model)
* a hard floor brush
* crevice tool
* combination tool
* wall mount
* 220v charger (EU plug)

Official Dyson position is that warranty is only valid in same country of purchase. However, they may still fix the item, and many parts are cheap anyway. Most expensive item is the motorised floor brush and the motor (around £60 each). There is also EU regulation regarding European warranty to provide.

Also available in Amazon.fr for about £250 delivered.

From past listings seems the Amazon 2 year warranty is valid in the UK if not the Dyson. It was 38 euro cheaper a few days ago at 341 but there's been little interest in buying because of the warranty issue so I didn't bother posting...I bought one at 350 euro...still in transit.
do you have to open a new account up and how do you understand the payment page if all in french???

If you already have an Amazon account, you can use the same details.

If you don't speak French or German at all, you can use the Google Chrome web browser, as it can translate all web pages

What about the plug

What about the plug

Well, as already mentioned, it would obviously come with a EU/2 pin plug, so you would need a £2 adapter, or buy a UK power supply for £15...

It proves quite costly to be a patriot these days. I called Dyson and asked about the warranty, they said if I buy outside of the UK the warranty is void in the UK, they will however fix a machine at a cost, which is so kind of them. . I was offered an instant discount down to 349.99 but rejected with a chuckle. I am so tempted to buy from Germany or France, but strongly believe that this is so wrong what Dyson are doing. They have included this in their terms and conditions, but is there any consumer rights that can protect us?
Has anyone got one of these then? all ok? any more info on the warranty?
I was looking at the V6 animal which is cheapest at £220 on dysons ebay outlet. For the extra £30-40 this seems a better deal.

If you need the mini motorised brush for stairs etc. then the Animal version is a better fit.

However, if you have carpets in many rooms, the Absolute comes with a new 50w direct drive floor head which is better (only the Absolute comes with that version in the V6 range). The Animal comes with a 20w standard floor head, and the Absolute floor head cannot be used on any other versions of the V6. Dyson made it incompatible on purpose, and does not sell it as a spare part... You can buy the mini motorised head for the Absolute for about £35.

I bought recently a DC59 Animal from the Dyson eBay outlet, and there was an issue with it. They sent replacement part straight away, but the issue remained. They then collected it and swapped it for a brand new V6 Animal (sealed) with the full 2 year warranty (as they don't have new DC59s anymore). Flawless service from the Dyson eBay outlet. Always responding to queries within a few hours, and sending replacement parts right away. I have bought from them several times in the past, and support has always been great, and most parts new/replaced.

Of course they are going to say that, as they rip off Britain, having decided to sell their products here for a much higher price. However, there are some European rules to force them to provide warranty anyway, which they will do.
