I know this will divide a lot of people, cue the "why spend that much on a used vacuum cleaner" but here goes...

Trigger's Broom.
If Dyson replace all the parts in the vacuum - is it still the same old vacuum?

Firstly, I ordered one last week (Friday). It arrived Saturday - via Parcel Force, so I guess they gave me free Saturday delivery too.. So super-quick.

The vacuum itself and all accessories look brand new. The only tell-tale sign is the power charger was wrapped with an elastic band and there's no plastic peely stuff to take off (if a brand new one has that?). So if the saving means that someone has unwound and re-would the charger and removed the plastic film you have to throw away anyway, I'd say it's worth it!

The box has a sticker on it claiming you only get a 1 year warranty as it's refurbished. There's a leaflet inside saying the same; please fill out this form or call this number to activate your one year warranty, blah blah. But, register the serial on the website - and boom, two years. I'm assuming you can all use a website, as you're here! Proof below.

The V6 Absolute is more powerful than all the other V6 range. It also has a HEPA filter on the motor so really does trap more allergens & dust than the rest of the range. The powered attachments have stronger motors too.

Yes, the V8 is available, but instead of making the V6 really cheap, they've just made the V8 even more expensive than this.. I don't think the V8 Absolute is worth the extra £230 - that's ridiculous.

I'm convinced Dyson have too many V6 Absolutes in stock and are just badging them as Refurbs to get them out the door...

Here's the 2 year warranty proof:

Got refurbished DC59 almost similar to V6 model, one year warranty printed all over the box and not allowed to register online. it behaves like a full size hoover but dust bin is so small not much use house with carpets, occupies lots of space with all the gizmos.
DC59 sold more than 1000 units refurbished, mine also used, it seems people are sending back with disappointment after paying full price.

I got the Animal yesterday for £220 (-TCB), and although it said 1 year Guarantee, it gave me two when I registered online.

Might be worth spending less and getting a less hyped up brand, that wont fall apart

Think the DC59 for £144 is a lot better value than this, the DC59 has a V6 motor although not with a HEPA filter but really do you think paying £126 more than the DC59 is worth it?

Although they don't advertise it - the V6 Absolute actually has a more powerful motor (though only within the EU - in the US all of the range gets the same motor). With that, it's battery is more powerful to compensate and give the same running time.

And you get these accessories extra:
- woodern floors attachment/head
- motorised mini-roller attachment
- THE PINK TUBE

And the DC59 deal is OOS, so...

Still not worth £126 more and the DC59 and V6 absolute are stated as having the same AV suction power so I'd disagree about the 'unadvertised' more powerful motor and the DC59 does have the motorised mini-roller attachment and PURPLE TUBE.

I read it on the internet - it must be true
The DC59 for £144 is OOS though - the next cheapest is Argos at £199.
And the comments in the DC59 about the poor units people have been receiving doesn't look too good (plus many have only got 1 year warranties as their serial was invalid). It is an older model, so more likely to be actual used units than the 'new' ones the Absolute buyers seem to receive.

And the brush bar is "150% more powerful" with the Absolute than the rest of the range - that's from the Dyson website comparing it to the Animal (which is what the DC59 is). How they quantify this, I'm not sure - but as they're comparing their own products, it's probably fair.

It's a minefield, but Dyson do separate out the range.
I don't think you can easily say one cheaper model is as good as their Absolute.
As with everything - it depends on your usage. Not every model is right for every person. That's why we have ranges

As for those that think Dysons aren't reliable...My over 7 year old DC25 Overdrive is still going strong... But will be relegated to the garage or major cleanup jobs with the purchase of this.

must have been lucky with mine then as it didn't have a single mark on, the power supply although had an elastic band on still had plastic film wrapped around it, also my serial once registered indicated a 2 year warranty.

Good

Glad to see you got the 2 year warranty too. Happy vacuuming

Op,
If your still there, whats it like on hard floors with the flat head,we've a lot of hard floors and can't choose between this and the fluffy which seems to have a better hard floor head which also picks up large debris, but otherwise be a lesser machine without hepa filter, extra power you mentioned etc. Considered buying fluffy head seperate for use on the absolute but would work out quite expensive and doesn't seem to be compatible with absolute per the dyson website. I noticed the V8 absolute seems to combine both in the way I'm looking for,but fear it could be a long time before it comes down to a more affordable price.

2/3rds of my place is hard floors and I was a bit disappointed that in the UK we get the 'newer' hard floor attachment vs. the fluffy head, which is supplied with the V6 Absolute in the states.

However.... it does have a LOT of suction - and that's on 'normal'. The head itself has a Max function, then you've got Max on the unit too. The 'wiper blades' pull pretty much anything off a hard floor with ease, and the added advantage is that it's passive, so doesn't draw power from the unit (the powered heads drop the run time from 20 mins to 12 mins).
The other advantage is the hard floor head is smaller - makes storage a little easier. The carpet head is huge in comparison (and actually picks up debris pretty well from hard floor too if you have a dry food spillage or cat litter to clean up, for example).

Howver, the Fluffy head is compatible with the Absolute. Not sure where you read otherwise.

Thanks for the info. Seen conflicting stuff some saying it doesn't fit some saying it does but sounds like not needed as heads supplied do the job well anyway.

Wish the Cold voters thought that
Thanks anyway!

This site is weird. Something that was £1.30 and drops to 90p, and everyone loses their sh1t.
TVs for about £50 off, and people "Thanks Op, took the plunge" on a £700 TV they've probably never even seen in the flesh.

But an actual useful household tool, which revolutionises the chore of 'cleaning up', at ~20% off, and it's "too expensive" and "will break in a week". Really? What are you doing with it, mowing the lawn!?!

But then these people probably live in dirty houses, with 6 bunches of 90p bananas......

So this is now £242.99 - believe this is a good deal..!?
