Superb piece of kit. Dyson returns can be a bit hit or miss but they seem to be pretty good, in general.

Can this be used as a main vacuum for the house? Is it strong enough for dog hairs etc?

Yep it picks up my retriever hair easily enough but I still don’t think it’s as strong as a stand up even on full power

5% Quidco too

£250 is an amazing price but is it worth waiting until Black Friday? 🤔

supermod

Great price @twinkle very tempted to upgrade - I thought my Dyson V6 would only get used occasionally but I was totally wrong - hardly use my normal upright Dyson now - they are easy to use can do 2/3 rooms then empty and plug it in to charge, so light and easy to manoeuvrer around and under furniture and on different surfaces,

Bought v8 absolute around 3 months ago... Cracking piece of kit. Replaced our normal upright Dyson & would not go back.

It does our house completely no issues & with charge to spare (on normal power). Definitely worth going for the absolute as it has the powered fluffy type head which is ideal for laminate/vinyl flooring. Whereas the powered brush type (comes with the animal version) is better on carpets & rugs.

Will last on standard power with powered head around 25mins.

Great deal & price .

Heat from me, been looking at this for a while.. and will report on quality when I get it!

Is the V6 or V8 better? I heard the V6 suction on "normal" mode is more powerful than the V8

Got both (from Dyson outlet too) and the V8 is quieter and better on normal and extra powerful in my opinion. At this price this is a bargain i think.

V8 without a doubt. Also bigger bin, redesigned tools and longer battery life.

I have the V8 Animal and the suction is great.
I can't really see how the suction on normal mode for a V6 could be better than a V8 but I haven't compared.

The V8 models have the better easy empty bin design that the V6 models don't have. You can remove the particles from the bin by pumping the handle up and down. Whereas, with the V6, you are relying on gravity alone to empty the particles and people have reported that they often have to use an implement or their fingers to clear stubborn particles like hair etc. from the V6 bin.

I agree, every time I have to empty the bin I have to remove the container and clean the filter...mind you we have a new puppy and a keen DIY OH...plenty of dust to collect in our house :

So looking at the specs for V6 and V8 on the dyson. On normal mode the V6 has suction power of 28 AW and the V8 has a power of 22 AW, the V7 even has less at 21 AW. I think this is how it's able to extend the battery life for the V8.

£237.50 with QuidCO!

Cheers OP. Been after a v8 for a while but didn't want to pay the price for it! Have some heat!

Oh my! I bought the v8 refurb a few weeks ago at £349, organised a return this morning as I got a new one for £329 by ringing up dyson and now this for a refurb has shown up!

Purchased !!

I've got a V6. It depends on your house - on wood flooring, it will pick up dog hairs fine on low power. On carpet, it's strong enough on full power, but it definitely won't last long enough to do a whole house on one charge (and might need emptying several times). We've also got a Henry, which doesn't get used as much as it used to, but is still the "main" vacuum.

You have something there. Never realized that. You make a good point. I guess it is about conserving battery power.

The V6 runs at 14 mins using the motorised tools, the V8, 25 mins.

I suppose you should buy the one that suits your needs. How big is your house? How many rooms? Do you intend to do them all at the same time or over a number of days? If its the latter, then the reduced operating time of the V6 won't be such an issue.

If you can afford it, the improved bin emptying design on the V8 and the V7 will help.

Does anyone know, is the docking station the same for all models, v6 to v8?

So it sounds like V6 is more powerful when V8 is advertised as 20 or 25 percent more powerful. Confused

On paper, on "normal" mode the V6 is more powerful than the V8. However, on MAX mode the V8 is more powerful than the V6 (115AW vs 100AW).

It's very misleading from Dyson to say V8 is more powerful as I think most people would use "normal" on a day to day basis and only use MAX mode on the rare occasions of sucking up stubborn dirt.

Not trying to put anyone off this deal as I think it's good, I just want people to be aware of the differences between V6 and V8 before taking the plunge on such an expensive item.

Most of the comments are wrong, the V6 and v7 have exactly the same power, the V8 has 15% more power, the size of bin is slightly more each model upwards, and the battery life is quoted at 20mins V6, 30 mins V7 and 40 mins V8, also the bin emptying was improved after the V6, apart from that it’s the package you buy and the cleaner heads included that make the bigger difference, eg absolute, total clean, fluffy, animal etc

As comment above states power of V6 vs V8. Battery will last longer with less power as well

Wow that’s even better than the 296 after 20% off a couple of weeks ago!

Really great price.

Funny thing is, knowing you have a battery somehow makes you vacuum faster - I typically get the whole house done in half the time it used to take - and have loads of power left for dusting etc. So much more cleaning takes place - can’t go on about it enough! Just love.

So, this'll be yours then!

Most probably. Well looked after btw. Although if the agent said he'd give me £100 refund to keep the refurb, I would have accepted.

Can I get tax refund form and get tax refund at the airport?
