Actually 'chortled' at my desk at work.

Wish I had one of these mounted to my desk to capture the strange looks I got from co-workers.

I dont get what that phrase means.

Also - how much record time do you get off a 32GB (for example) card? Would I have to be constantly ejecting the card and wiping it on my computer - or is there the function built in?

Also, does anyone know if it records in burst - or will it just record one great big chunk of video footage from the second I turn it on - to off?

Is that the pigeon that buys all your old DVD's, CD's, and your old sweaty jeans, you know Tommy's mate.....

Sorry, just noticed "Video save interval: 1 min/3 min/5min "

However im getting turned off at the thought of a TF Card. Are they still around?

Also, 32GB maximum at 720p wouldnt be long right?

Does 8.5 hours sound about right?

Another Question.

When I ebay "TF Card" it seems to return Micro SD cards a lot... Is TF just another term for Micro SD?

Takes a standard micro sd card, video records in 1/3/5 minute loops and overwrites the oldest file when the card is full, 3 min video on highest settings without sound is about 275mb.

It turns on when you turn on the ignition if you leave it plugged in and starts recording straight away.

If your car gets bumped when the ignition is turned off (i.e. parked) it should start recording, though i haven't tested this

It doesnt mention or picture a holder/mount.

But the last sentence on the description is:

"the accessories and the holder will change according to the different batches"

Does this imply it comes with the mount? Do we assume this is some sort of subtle clip mount - or is it going to be one of those intrusive suction cup windscreen holding things?

TF card = Micro SD card, I think it is just American terminology.

Suction cup, mounts behind the rear view mirror. I can see about 1/4 of the bottom of the screen whilst driving.

Screen turns off after 3 minutes driving which is the minimum setting unfortunately, 10 seconds would suffice

So does it have to be plumbed in? Or can you just recharge it like normal (i.e. at home) and use it until the battery drains?

Not sure id like a cable dangling from behind my rear-view-mirror (where I intended to mount it)

My cable runs along the windscreen tucked into the headliner, down the beam of the door next to the windscreen, down to the floor around the dash, under passenger side floormat and into central cig lighter. Can barely see it

teambintip

3 min video on highest settings without sound is about 275mb.

So about 5.75 hours. Id probably be happy with 720p in fairness and probably slap on 5 minutes (as that would hopefully be good enough bursts).

Turning off microphone would be good, as it would stop picking up my chatter and language... Although, if it came to using the footage, would be good to have sound so you could prove things like "Nobody honked their horn" etc etc. Or even hear car tyre skids to gauge when the breaks were pressed.

Hmm, sounds a bit too technical for me (Id hate to start pulling up things to tuck stuff under)

Does it have to be actually put in the cigarette charger? Can it be wired internally behind it? I remember (oh, back in the day) having an stuff in my car, but I bought a 3-way-cigarette splitter, but it was mounted behind the dash, it was just so I can plumb other stuff in.

Would a garage know how to do this - or would I have to go an 'ICE' specialist to get this sort of thing done?

Mine runs into a 1 > 2 cigarette lighter adapter that sits in the central glove box, it was about £5. Also has extra usb connectors for charging phone etc though i don't tend to use them.

Its not a techinal job in the slightest, 5 minutes max honestly

Great piece of kit but mine interferes with the radio. read some other reviews that said this as well.

G1W is a 'Public Model' product. Many factories assemble similar looking G1Ws that differ internally. There are at least 6 different mainboards & 2 or more CPUs in use in the G1W. What is a 'genuine' G1W? Nobody knows!

You may be lucky & get a 'good one'. Or not. How many factories supply E-Prance?

Wait till you have an accident that isn't 100% clear cut. Then you will be VERY grateful for it.

Some guys pulled out right in front of my friends car then slammed on the anchors so he rear ended them. They jumped out claiming whiplash etc.

He didn't say anything at the time (so as not to have it forcibly removed) but he had a similar unit by his rear view mirror. He sent the footage to the insurers and a claim that would have gone against him for certain went instead in his favour.

I can see these becoming commonplace one day, like in Russia, but not in this implementation.

I got one for my gf's car. Gives her peace of mind if anything happens. Got her the mini 0801 but going by the reviews online this is great for the price. Might get one for the rear as well as my car. Anyone recommend a dual cigarette adaptor?

Thanks for this anyway. Heat from me.

Yeah I agree, or at least discounts from insurers if in and on, imagine the financial save in investigations and legal banter. Have you ever googled footage of these on you tube? Some amazingly scary stuff!!!

The radio interference would likely be from the power supply adaptor. I had that issue with the G1wh version I bought from banggood.

Buy a better quality 5v usb cigarette lighter power adaptor and a long usb to mini usb power cable (preferably a shielded cable) and that should clear up the interference..

You could check it is the adaptor by unplugging it from the lighter socket and powering it up on the internal battery.

Cloned ones will only record in .AVI, the official G1w record in .mov up to 1080p, so if you buy one and it doesn't record .mov then it's a fake,

There are lots of copies, and copies of copies of the G1W, some use the same sensor and processor and do record in genuine 1080p .mov file others don't, and upscale low def instead.

No-one seems to know who the original G1W manufacturer was.

I went for a G1WH instead, not sure if there's only one manufacturer making that version, but the quality seems to be a bit more consistent and it doesn't have the shiny chrome ring to attract attention to itself.

Another cheap dashcam worth considering is the wide lens version of the Mobius for about £45 shipped from the UK.

Might get one for the rear...

Looks way too conspicuous in the rear screen...

Note that the above G1W has been owner-modified with a lens hood.

I like the idea of these - but no one seems to realise they also offer proof if you are the guilty party!

Bought this model a couple of weeks ago, very impressed with quality. Installation is a doddle as someone earlier said, just push the cable into the gap at the headliner / windscreen and route around to the rear, or front cig lighter, no skill needed. I leave it plugged in all the time. You can set the screen to tim off if you want, or stay on. And either loop or continuous record. Quality is excellent. The day after I fitted it, I recorded an accident infront of me. Offered the footage to the woman, she said I have fromt and rear cams, so no need. I will be doing the same. Bought 4 more for a mate for use in Dubai (mad drivers) Recommended. Heat added.

TF stands for TransFlash, the old name for these cards. Something to do with the fact they are flash memory based.
