dont you need to have mobile internet to use this phone to its full potential

Can get it from e2save with voda on a £30 a month with mobile internet.
Phone costs £34.99 but £50 Quidco covers that.

If you bought this, could you add internet on (like o2 bolt on)? This phone really needs internet to make it worth going for.

The other deal I've found worth looking at with this phone is at Mobiles.co.uk on Dolphin 30, £20 pm, (600 mins, Unlimited txt, 500mb internet), but the phone costs an additional £89.99 but you get £40 Quidco back.

I do won't this phone though.

You'd defo be able to get bolt-ons from Voda no problem.

I'm sure i've seen similar cost packages WITH internet included but haven't got time to look at the moment... might be mistaking with the Magic though...

Might be worth a check on dialaphone or mobiles.co.uk though.

Got mine last week direct from Orange.

Went direct cos I hate the claim back deals with a passion.

£24.46 Raccon 30 (24 month Contract).

- 600 mins
- 500 Texts
- Unlimited landline calls
- 500 gb downloads
- Orange Maps

£97.50 for the phone

£150 cashback from Quidco.

I know its a 24 month contract (longest I've ever sold my soul for) but when you look at the overall costs it aint half bad.

Price to pay over the 24 months after Quidco is £534.52 which works out as £22.27 per month.

If you wanted to buy the phone on its own your looking at around £350 even from ebay so that puts the £534 (including 2 years worth of a decent package) into perspective

I know I could have saved a bit of cash (& maybe got an 18 month contract) by going through a third party & jumping through their cashback hoops but to be honest - lifes too short.

Oh .... & the phone...........................................Pure dead magic :-D

Edit: Just realised that if I take into account the cash I'll get for selling my old Sammy U900 my contract will be costing less than £20.

It's a good deal but is your phone locked to Orange and has it got all the Orange logos and software on it? I ask this because the deal I've seen comes unlocked and sim free because mobile.co.uk are part of The Carphone Warehouse and in the end only works out 56p pm more than yours. Can you let me know because if yours is unlocked and no Orange stickers on it, I'd prefer yours because of Oranges better warranty on the handsets.

Cheers:thumbsup:

AFAIK there's no such thing as a Vodaphone-locked Hero so a deal from Voda is likely to come as an unlocked Hero.

Orange Heros are not only logoed and locked but also won't take HTC firmware upgrades without hackery - you have to wait for Orange to provide the updates which is a PITA

As for warranties - ANY mobile network has to backup the phones you get under the Sale of Goods Act terms so the 'warranty' you get from them is the same. The only problem is convincing them of this - esp when it's a software fault or random problem which is hard to pin down...

Re firmware updates - The last HTC update came out in "Orange" flavour a few days after the HTC one so not too bad there.

Theres a tiny orange logo on the back of the phone 5mm x 6mm - nothing on the front - I honestly hadnt noticed the one on the back until you prompted me to check. The back of the phone could be easily & cheaply replaced if it really offended you.

Software wise all there is a splash screen as it boots up & a couple of web/internet bookmarks which can easily be deleted - nothing else. The machine is so configurable that I suppose it would be virtually impossible for Orange to "Brand" it.

I thought all contract phones had to be sim unlocked to all networks (or is it that you are allowed to call them to unlock it??)

I dont have any other sims kicking about buy I will try to check another sim in the next day or so.
