It's probably cold because the card is aimed at people with poor credit. There are an incredible amount of snobs on here and then you have automatic cold voters. Don't worry about it, it's just a number.
Sorry but I'm going to have to vote cold, as I'd opt for a rewards/cashback card if all this offers is £20 to spend at Amazon as a once off. Yes you could take it out, get the reward and then close the account but it wont do anything to help your credit rating.

I'd rather take out their rewards card and get 0.5% back on all spending or get the Halifax clarity card and get £5 a month for spending £300 which is pretty easy with just supermarket spending and day to day living costs.

I've certainly got no issue with the idea of a credit builder card as I used to have an Aqua rewards card before they sliced the cashback rate and I got shot of it. Was a nice money earner to make my spending go even further.

Hi thank you for explaining your vote and the additional information, which I am sure will help people.

And why would Amazon close your account? Were you naughty?

I don't understand the point you are making or its relevance to this thread, are you saying this is why it has been voted cold - sorry perhaps you can explain

i think redcantona explained it well. there are many automatic cold voters on here who will look down their noses at certain deals, regardless of what it might offer.

A prime example are the cold votes usually made against most deals for Dr Dre Beats Headphones...the audiophile snobs come out to play and instantly vote cold and start waffling on about sound quality but if you are particularly looking for Beats Headphones and someone posts a deal for them that is cheaper than anywhere else then as far as I'm concerned that qualifies as a hot deal regardless of whether I would personally want the item or not....unfortunately that isn't the way some people on this site view things

The other reason people seem to vote deals cold is when it isn't an item that really interests them...again I think it's a bit unfair to vote cold on something just because it doesn't appeal to you as if it's posted for a lower price at a particular retailer than anywhere else then surely that must qualify as a hot deal? But then again perhaps it's only me that looks at it that way oO

thank you... I was just surprised at how quickly and how cold this deal was voted ... a one off £20 payment for buying stuff you would buy anyway with a credit card seemed worth a mention. You can cancel the card as soon as you have got your bonus and there is no stipulation as to a minimum spend.
Maybe I should get a flame deer for the quickest deal to go cold

Sadly the way credit files work, the negative drop in your rating for taking out a new line of credit in the long term will for the vast majority of people (if not all) will have a run on effect in terms of interest rates and other benefits of having a good credit rating. For only £20 it's really not worth the damage it would cause especially if your only reason to get the card is the gift voucher and to then close the account. If you use the card for 12 months reasonably then it's a different story, but as I said earlier, a cashback card in that circumstance would in most peoples cases earn them more money.

Hi Jane....just thought I'd follow up on my comment so you can see exactly what I mean about no rhyme nor reason to the voting system and so you don't take the cold votes personally or get disheartened from posting deals...believe me it so isn't worth it

Here's a link for a pair of beats headphones, from a genuine retailer that are massively cheaper than anywhere else yet the deal has gone cold oO
