The R3 is amazing. I'd go for that rather than this any day.

Good price for both

steel frames are very underrated especially one with Reynolds. i would take Reynolds steel over any alu frame.

Wish they had a different paint job seems a bit old fashioned, no this is a personal thing but must be restricting there market, this coming from an old foggy so what do I know.

So many say that about steel. I have yet to try a decent steel frame (not BSO steel) and I just don't know what the fuss is.
I mean what is the difference between steel and say a typical Boardman Sport alloy frame (albeit with carbon fork)?
Or is it just one of those old-skool thiga like fixies?

I think when people say steel they refer to steel alloy rather than carbon steel. A steel like chromoly is one of the strongest metals around and far superior than 6061 in terms of strength and weldability. There are higher grade steel still such as 4340 but probably ott for bike frame application.

Steel is a more 'forgiving' ride, a good tapered butted steel frame (something like a Reynolds 953)will feel a lot more comfortable than a harsh alloy frame

Its going for the 'understated' look i guess, think it looks nice, like the genesis bikes. I suspect the turquoise will better in real life than the pics, the black might work because it will blend in and not attract thieves.

Ah, thanks. Being honest I don't mind the ride quality being that bad. Alloy seems to soak it up fine. Also stiffer .

I bought this bike when it had the SRAM Apex groupset. As supplied it makes a light and quick commuter or go for a day ride on tarmac or gravel. Fit a rack for £20 and it makes a tour bike. Take off the guards, fit a 46T chainring and cx tyres and it makes an entry level CX bike.

A Reynolds steel bike with Tiagra groupset at £425 its a bargain.

This is never going to be a racing bike so I'm not sure why its fitted with a 50x11 top gear, a 12-30 cassette would be more useful, yours for about £15.

There is loads of clearance for tyres, even with the 32mm fitted. The saddle is comfortable, cantilever brakes and the finish is good.

I got a small (54) and its good fit for me at 5 ' 9", I notice they only list the M, L and XL now. To improve the fit I flipped the stem, on the size I bought there is toe overlap.
