We have one of these - was about £60 when it first came out.

Ours wasn't anywhere near a power source (normal mains plug), so we used a 12V convertor (basically the same as you use on an LED downlight) to take it from 240V. If you put 240V through it (as in a direct wired connection) you will fry the main board.

The batteries that come with it literally last for a couple of weeks. Rechargeable batteries are good but are you going to climb up to the first floor every 3 months to change them?

The other option is if you have a plug on the inside of the wall, you can drill a hole trhough and feed the cable from your mains socket - obviously sealing the hole after its done.

Should add, they are very cool though - and extremely loud! (edited)

One option you missed was the compatibility with their solar panels

My neighbourhood has a reputation for swinging and I don’t fancy getting unwanted attention on my house (edited)

Not the most attractive looking bell box I've ever seen. I don't think I'd want it on the outside of my house.

Controversially, I think it's the only bell box I want outside of my house - this is the only modern looking one that isn't sharp/angular or a ridiculous yellow

    And it glows at night...

I have this alarm, it's great, glows in the dark - switch's on automatically in the evening & turns of just before dawn (it's called dusk til dawn feature). VERY loud when triggered. It's a good deterrent imo.
