The amount of 20% discounts that eBay are running at the moment makes me think they might be struggling to attract buyers a bit. Guess the collections of fake listings and fake items might be catching up with them.

That said, the way they treat their sellers I'm amazed they have any left at all
I kinda feel that threads like this can be a little misleading, since the majority of the time the people making the most noise are those with a problem with eBay. There are plenty of people who have no problem with eBay - I'm well into four figure feedback, with a 100% positive rating, both as a seller and buyer. Any problems I've had have been sorted out quickly, and as part of the Concierge program I have quick access to support.

Tried twice to buy Diesel jeans from eBay in the past. Both times I was sent fakes (pretty decent fakes) by power sellers who have been duping thousands of people with fake goods.

I don't buy any clothing items from eBay unless it's an official store now. Also avoid any electrical items that can be faked (i.e. headphones etc).

Yes looks like they are just promoting the outlet shops that already has at least 20% off RRP. So it's not real extra 20%. What od other peaople think?

Absolutely. They're feeling the pinch, just consider the £1 final fee offers running almost every weekend. They're trying to resurrect a failing platform, not sure if it will work given the no. of sellers who have deserted them so far.
Typical
Ordered £50 worth of stuff from superdry last night 😡

I won’t buy anything from eBay anymore. I do sell a bit, but nothing of any huge value due to the total lack of protection.

They are supposed to be bringing in a fulfilment by eBay for their sellers. About time with Amazon FBA fees for sellers. Hopefully will create more completion between market places and thus lower prices for sellers
I agree that eBay has it's flaws for buyers and sellers, but (in my opinion) it's still by far the best way to reach the most potential buyers (particularly if you're selling niche items). Amazon would be in a position to compete if they improved their keyword searching and made pricing/p&p charges more visible in search results, but I still don't think many people think to search on Amazon for a lot of the items which are available (for example they have a wide range of car parts but I'd hazard a guess that relatively few people think to look there).

Ebay are leaving PAypal thank god,

Adyen will be the payment processing for ebay from 2021.

Paypal fees were crazy

I agree completely. There is no other platform like it. Seller protection has improved slightly over the years. I've won cases as a seller which never used to happen. Some competition would be great but it never seems to happen.

Agreed! Though I can confirm 100% that the Superdry outlet is completely legit. Mostly seconds, but I can barely ever notice the reason why (perhaps 1 stitch out of place etc).

Amazon tend to do pretty well in Google search though for niche items - and I think I read somewhere recently Amazon itself was something like the second most popular search engine in the States.

I agree with the other posters. Haven't bothered selling anything on eBay for years, and rarely buy anything of value there either. It took five attempts to buy an iPhone there the last time (such was the number of scammers) and I'm unlikely to repeat the experience next time I need a replacement.

It's 10 days, which is one complete week, plus three additional days.

It's not 14 days, therefore it's one week only. They could have gone for "10 days only" but hey ho.

Who's to say Adyen wont be charging more in fees than PayPal? I know everybody's really happy that PayPal isint going to be the future payment option with Ebay because of its 13% fee charge plus 20p, but i have a feeling Adyen will be charging 20% in fees, unless someone knows for sure Adyen has confirmed it will be charging less than 13%?

Everybody wanted the transport privatised as they said it would make the fares cheaper as they were complaining fares were to expensive at the time. It got privatised and the fares sky rocketed in price. And theyre response was we'll receive a "better service" to compensate the price increase" The still no seats on the trains, now im just paying double for the pleasure of standing

Are the prices automatically reduced or do I need to do something? I actually had something in my basket from about a week ago and it hasn't changed in price.

I’m the same as you here (member for ten years, 2k+ feedback at 100% etc) and have never had a problem on eBay, but I do agree that it’s a failing platform.

Since the dramatic fee increases a few years ago I hardly sell anything on there, and I only buy when it’s so niche I can’t buy elsewhere.

Selling elsewhere is always cheaper and often easier - gumtree for random bits like furniture, clothing and electronics (it always sells within a week) and Mazuuma for my old phones.

Buying on eBay is a poor user experience to begin with. Then there’s the risk that many items are fakes, items might come from China even though the seller is registered in UK, or items simply don’t arrive at all.

I don’t know what the concierge program is but eBay support is notoriously bad. A bunch of scripted call centre workers in the Philippines who can’t do anything more than read information from the website that you generally would already know

You only have type in a search on Facebook market place and the buying and selling fees that eBay once recouped are gone. Trust is eBays’ biggest problem for me.
The last time I bought from Superset eBay store, the hoody delivered was probably a factory seconds or quality reject. Threads were coming off some bad stitches. Explains why they were selling these at a discount here. Was very disappointed. Tempted but will avoid

Sorry i meant Superdry eBay store.. autocorrect..
How do you get the 20% off
i was looking at superdry stuff a few days ago and there still the same price now ..
added shorts to basket still showing as same price not 20% discount ...
can soneon please try it thereselves
thanks in advance
I would prefer Ebay anyday for its free delivery on even small items without any order total limit instead of the giants like Amazon who rip you off with subscription fees of Prime and still don't guarantee free delivery for non prime items.
Thanks for sharing

Anybody knows if they are fakes. I do believe ebay turns a blind eye to some fakes. I had cleome seeds rather than hoya and there were several sellers flogging cleome seeds as hoya seeds. When I saw the thorns, I knew there was a systemic con racket going on. People from China, Spain and England were flogging the dead horse. A seller in England was very abusive but in the end, paypal forced him to refund me. Be sensible and keep a clear and cool head in amidst all the hype. When money is involved, even your blood relatives can be dodgy, not to say someone wanting your money in the void called online/ internet!
