This looks fantastic, and full credit to FD who has passed this on to me for discussion.

Now live -

Found it for less? Here’s what you do:

Before you buy it, contact eBay Customer Service to request a price match. Let Customer Service know where you found the lower price. We’ll confirm the price match on the spot. Once it’s confirmed, we’ll send you an eBay voucher for the difference.

eBay have introduced a price match guarantee on their 'eBay Deals'. I personally think it's awesome for those who collect those Nectar points and even better who prefer PayPal as their ultimate preferred payment of method.

[Price guarantee link]

2734195.jpg
So, who's included?

Amazon.co.uk, Currys.co.uk, Argos.co.uk, Asda.com, JohnLewis.com, Tesco.com (“Competitor”), but excluding any third party marketplaces including those associated with the retailers listed above. This list is subject to change at the discretion of eBay.

So how does it work?

  • Before you buy it, contact eBay Customer Service to request a price match.
  • Let Customer Service know where you found the lower price. We’ll confirm the price match on the spot.
  • Once it’s confirmed, we’ll send you an eBay voucher for the difference.

The bumpf....

Which competitors does the eBay Deals Price Match Guarantee apply to?
Amazon.co.uk, Currys.co.uk, Argos.co.uk, Asda.com, JohnLewis.com, Tesco.com (“Competitor”), but excluding any third party marketplaces including those associated with the retailers listed above. This list is subject to change at the discretion of eBay.

Is postage included in the eBay Deals Price Match Guarantee?
No, we compare the item’s purchase price (excluding P&P ) on eBay.co.uk and the Competitor’s website in order to determine if a price match guarantee is justified.

How do I request a price match or find out more about the eBay Deals Price Match Guarantee policy?
Please contact eBay Customer Service.

How does eBay cover the difference if a lower-priced, identical item is found on a qualifying Competitor’s website?
eBay will issue a voucher for the difference in price for the qualifying purchase if eBay Customer Service can confirm the difference. Upon confirmation, they will issue a voucher which must be used towards the purchase of the price match listing. Vouchers will expire within 24 hours and will not be reissued once they’ve expired. eBay reserves the right to cancel them in the event that a price match purchase is cancelled or returned. eBay also reserves the right to deny claims in the event of buyer abuse/fraud and seller abuse/fraud.

Which items qualify for the eBay Deals Price Match Guarantee?
New, unopened items in their original packaging on the eBay Deals page. If a listing is found through the eBay Deals specific search module, then that product is part of the eBay Deals programme. Only “New”, “New with Tags”, “New in Box” and “Brand New” items qualify. All other item conditions such as refurbished and “New Other” items are not eligible. Please refer to item condition information on eBay.co.uk for more details: pages.ebay.co.uk/hel…tml

Is this for UK resident buyers only?
Yes. Buyers can participate in the eBay Deals Price Match Guarantee if they are a resident of the UK (even if the purchase was initiated outside of the UK), as long as the item is purchased on eBay.co.uk and is delivered to an address within the United Kingdom.

What happens if an item is returned?
In the event an item is returned, the buyer will be refunded the listing price minus the voucher value and any other discounts applied at the time of the transaction.

The only problem is having to talk to Customer Service. My past experiences with this lot have not exactly been painless.
Just in case I'm missing something...

So you find a cheaper item on Amazon, instead of just buying it then and there, you think to yourself - man I really hate straightforward purchases, so screw these guys, I'm going to hop over to eBay > contact customer services > wait to speak to somebody > show them the link > wait for them to check it > get them to issue a voucher for the difference > profit???

What possible incentive would you have to mess about waiting to get a voucher (that expires in 24 hours), that can only be used on the product you're buying. If something goes wrong and the voucher expires, you lose out. You lose out waiting to get a voucher instead of buying straight away. You potentially lose out if ordering from a rubbish seller on eBay instead of using Amazon for instance.

So this is for people boycotting the other companies and masochists?
No thanks. I'd rather pay a little more and have Amazon customer service as a backup and prime delivery.

Ah. I’ve never had to deal with them thankfully, if that’s the case. Hopefully they’ll have a team to deal with price matches that can only be a little more competent, hopefully

I have had to deal with their customer services plenty of times, as a seller and as a buyer, they have been absolutely helpful everytime, I do it through livechat though.

Unless it is different with their "eBay deals".

Like I say, I've never really had to. When an issue has occurred on eBay it's been sorted by the individual seller without the need for eBay themselves. I've had a few issues with Amazon though, as a Prime seller, but that's only because it's like talking to a brick wall sometimes

But I suppose like anywhere, there will be the occasional issues, sadly

always been helpful customer service, I like ebay but paypal is a pain in ass and hate them
I sold a phone about a year ago. The offer claimed that I'd get a voucher if it sold below a stated price.

I never received a voucher and when I contacted eBay, they said I wasn't eligible for the offer even though a rep had confirmed i was eligible before listing.
lol, so wait 30 minutes to get connected to customer services, then get passed from pillar to post for another 20 minutes, explain what you want to do several times and have ebay disconnect........ I'll pass
All to entice and part you from your hard earned..... If it works like the rest of these
there'll be a few winners.... and the rest won't
No thanks. I'd rather pay a little more and have Amazon customer service as a backup and prime delivery.
Currys, Argos, John Lewis & Asda Direct accept PayPal. Just saying.

I am more curious on this one. Does this mean every item you could buy on ebay from any random individual sellers will have the postage paid by ebay. If that is the case that is one bloody good deal and service there and would sign up in an instant.

If its just a case that a few selected items from large retailers is free postage its not that good of a deal.

I don’t think that’s the case sadly. eBay Plus has its own page, much like the eBay Deals section does currently. So it’s over selected items, but when it launched last week they had a 15% voucher running with it that had some fantastic deals available.

I could be wrong, though

Amen
Great deal for Amazon, Ebay is already providing loads of sales for Amazon with the hundreds of ebay/amazon dropshippers. Now they'll be refunding the difference too.
This sounds interesting, wonder how quick and how long they'll price match for.
Either way the best deal will turn up on here. With free p&p, code stack, tcb, nectar points and 2 year gaurantee all glitches into one hukd.
Gotta love it!

What a coincidence X)
I remember between eBay & PayPal customer services a few years ago, I ran up a £20 phone bill.

I totally understand. But you're requesting a price match on an item you're looking to purchase. 24 hours is ample time for that. Unless people just wanted to horde price matched vouchers. Seems fair to me.
Thinking out aloud here...

...say I want item A for £100 on eBay. Amazon sell item A for £90. eBay supply me a £10 voucher. Is there a small possibility that this voucher can be used for something else, e.g item B that's £11. You get the idea...

As with any new promotion, glitches and loopholes exist at the start. Worth a try.

This only applies to the 'daily' deals secton, so that's why its only 24 hours I suspect. Though stuff is in there for ages in reality.

It is not eBay-wide.
Why go through the hassle of contacting CS and waiting for a voucher just to buy the item on eBay? Make it a price beat and I'm interested.

so let me get this straight. let say i want an xbox one

argos £200
ebay £225

i contact ebay and say look i can get this cheaper at argos. they give me a £25 voucher as a price match. and i have 24 hours to spend it.....

if i don't spend it, its gone. money wasted.

why would i even bother going through that whole process for nothing, no matter what way i look at it, you lose. would rather just the save the extra money and buy it somewhere else than have a shitty voucher.

So you have to waste time, contact eBay customer service, wait some more, buy it for the same price as a better retailer (no price beat), wait some more until it arrives at a slower pace than Amazon, and when it arrives if something is wrong with it you'll have to go through an annoying return process that's more complicated than Amazon's?

I... I don't get it.
It's no wonder eBay is doing so badly in the UK. 10 percent fees was already bad enough.

Depends how you look at it. Personally it’s not an incentive for me, but you stated Amazon quite a few times there. Many a time I’ve seen people actually hold out for Amazon over actually going to collect something from Argos. Or how we’ll wait for Amazon to price match anybody.

The incentive here over Amazon was Nectar points and PayPal. I guess it just goes to show how Amazon control the market. I’ve been a Prime member for 3 years, they’re really not all that.

please enlighten me, i see that you can earn nectar points, but unless you're collecting them then i'm struggling to see the point. unless im just being dopey and theres some massive benefit im unaware of. if thats the case someone feel free to point it out
Sorry, cold from me. Don't really consider this a 'deal'. It's also a very long winded way of getting a price matched.

No, you're correct in the fact that the only benefits really are Nectar collection and what ever else. Like I said previously, it's no incentive to me personally as I don't collect them.

What I mean is, you're not really losing out. Using your example. If the item is £200 at Argos and it's £225 on eBay, then eBay will give you a discount code to use on the item to knock the price down to £200...generating a personal code for you to the value of £25. The code will last 24 hours, which in my opinion is long enough if your intention was to make the purchase anyway.

There's no extra money spent. It's the exact same, just with the benefits of purchasing on eBay, if that's your thing.
This will just be the above shops and Ebay working together to manipulate prices and buyers. The Daily Deals page will be set up between them. You will think you are getting a bargain but its just a way to push you to make the purchase. (Regarding Amazon, the reason they price match is because they are not 'Amazon' selling the item. Tesco, Argos, Asda, etc sell 'through' Amazon, they merely price match their own web sites under the banner of Amazon)
