Hi Guys,

Just to let everyone know, there is a glitch on ebay which is allowing all outer area zone customers for free delivery. So where normally you would be getting charged a hefty fee, currently it's free, now sure how long for.

It's a bug site wide, I know this as I work for a company whom sell on ebay, the charges set by some sellers to outer area zones are not being charged by ebay, they know about this, but haven't had a resolve as of yet, so eBay will refund the sellers for the extra charges, so customers will benefit.

I work for company which sells o ebay, we have been advised that ebay will refund the delivery charge to seller.

Outer area zone? Are we back in the Handmaids Tale?
Thank you, just got a few parcels sent to my holiday home on the moon.
I didn't have a clue either so just googled it. Apparently it's remote areas such as Scottish Highlands or Isle of Man which normally incur higher delivery charges.

WHAT? It's a glitch, that puts postage down form X to the lower Y …WHAT? It's a glitch, that puts postage down form X to the lower Y value/cost.Admittedly, it's for a few folk, and perhaps not you. But, I guess you don't use tampons, but don't vote tampon deals down ( ... ... or do you!?) So, why vote this deal down?I just bought an amazing home, in these weird postal outlands, with views YOU've never seen, and shall never see. It helps me, especially when I have so much to purchase,.It would be nice if postage within the UK was flat fee, as imcombant packages (from China for example) only need paid for up until the post office start their final leg to complete the delivery. I wouldn't ever expect delivery to be free, but if China have no issues with our remote areas, then our companies should have less cause to.

I do believe he was taking the mickey

Ain't nothing in this world for free.

Never knew something like outer area even existed!
Who's footing the loss? Sellers or eBay?

I don't think it's fair to make private sellers lose out.

It's the sellers!

Happened to me on something I sold.
Isn't Outer Area Zone one of the later levels in Sonic?

I wonder if it'd work for Tristan da Cunha, now that they've got their own postcode...
This just hits sellers... Many of them small businesses or private sellers.

Ebay will lose out on the 10-15% commission they charge on postage (again to the seller) but other than that this is a glitch that hits the small guys not ebay

Voted cold as a result
Usually covers NI and highlands n islands
Voting cold because this is causing me massive inconvenience how do you get your money back as a seller
No different as usual for me. Kettle £11.69 with free delivery to England, an extra £11 to have it delivered to Skye. Usually Royal Mail are free delivery up here, it's when they start using couriers that the prices bump up. If a seller uses DHL then they don't charge extra to pass it onto a secondary courier so usually still free, if they use different courier then that's when the extra charge is incoured. Ebay don't have an outer zone policy, its down to the individual seller on who and how the choose to send their items. 38024892-btUiy.jpg

Isle of Man has no extra cost.

But who is paying the cost to deliver your Chinese parcel within the UK? Your minimal ~50p or less postage cost isn't doing it, so is China paying RM a huge subsidy or is our govt footing the bill and why?
As a seller on eBay this is highly annoying. If it happens I just send a PayPal invoice requesting additional money to cover the postage and an eBay message to the customer explaining why and how it is ebays fault.
op updated, ebay will refund the seller, we have had contact as a seller, anyone having this issue as a sellershould contact ebay about this

Couldn't agree more, as a seller also I have spoken to ebay about this and they admit it shouldn't be doing this, which means that if a customer does buy an item from that area I send a message explaning the issue and if they don't want to pay extra I cancel the order

(ebay themselves will back the seller do to the fact it's their glitch and won't back the customers right to not pay extra)

Wrong. Couriers charge alot more for delivery to a IM postcode. If your item is under 2kg it can go Royal Mail which has no extra charge.

Haven't experienced this personally, so I may be missing something, but surely if it is eBay's fault you should be pushing THEM to refund you the difference and honouring your customer's order? If the problem is caused by eBay why should the buyer lose out either?

By cancelling orders you risk losing customers and getting negative fb over it if a buyer takes it badly...

By golly, I fink you're on to something.

You'd best write a strongly worded letter to your MP, the Mail (lol), or something.

However - Internationally, there are agreements, where long distance (international) costs are paid by sender, and once they arrive at the destination country the locality cover local costings. The locality make their money from sending, not delivering.
