Been messed about twice now for a server I am selling. First for £100 then few days ago for £70. Tempting to list it elsewhere but they won't have the same coverage as eBay

Keep an eye out, ebay are revising peoples BIN listings and adding half price Best offer. They did it to my OH overnight on a mobile phone! This is low even for ebay.

No, they emailed her after one week telling her (this was sent overnight) when she looked the best offer had been switched on and offer price was half of her BIN. There is a thread about it on ebay seller forums.

Yes, it does default to a lowest best offer of 50%, but you choose whether or not to accept it.

"it appears that ebay has decided that if an item with BO attached doesn't sell in seven days ebay will decide how low an offer can be and still be acceptable. One seller quoted that on a BIN price of £40 ebay has notified them that ebay will now automatically accept offers of £20."

"I discussed this briefly with @askebay on twitter;

Their response was;

Listings get updated with the option for buyers to make an offer when they've gone unsold for 8 days. Our goal is to help you get that item off the shelf and in the hands of a buyer. You can go into the listing to adjust lowest offer you're willing to accept.

I responded that I'd rather be left to manage my own listings and they're just making work for me because I have to reject the offer and then re-disable it.

I got a further response;

We appreciate the feedback! Definitely not trying to create extra work - your best bet would be to adjust the minimum offers you'll accept and let the listing go until someone either offers something you're willing to accept or purchases it outright.

I've given up now but I did reply to say my best option woul be if they just let me manage my own listings, and ask them if they're going to start adding free shipping to my collection only items. We'll see. lol.
"

This does appear to be targeted to people using the ebay app to list (like my OH used on her phone) and the non-advanced listing tool on their site.
This will make it fun for all the ebay scalpers, some half price bargains to be had at 3am

sounds like nonsense

I have plenty of BINs with BO attached and none have ever been adjusted by Ebay to automatically accept BO @ 50% of BIN.

You'd have a great case for compo against Ebay if they did this as it is not in the T&Cs for them to have your authority to do this.

As such, I simply don't believe it.

And all that Ebay/ Twitter said (if true) is that they allow people to make an offer if the item is unsold - nothing wrong with that IMV - DEFINITELY nothing about automatically accepting an offer 50% of BIN.

As I said before: A COMPLETE NONSENSE TO RAISE THIS NON-EXISTENT ISSUE

By the same logic, WW2 never happened because it didn't happen to you.

No, nothing wrong with changing peoples listings without any kind of warning at all.

Youve gone from "You'd have a great case for compo against Ebay if they did this as it is not in the T&Cs for them to have your authority to do this."

The best line from you is still "As such, I simply don't believe it."

Try and find evidence that anybody in the UK had an 'automatic accept' 50% BO price 'secretly' imposed on them by Ebay.

There is no evidence because it didn't happen.

You are prattling a nonsense story with zero evidence it ever happened.

I'm just quoting you so you can't backtrack. I've quotes other sellers from various ebay discussions, if you can read. >I< never said they are put on auto accept.

>I< said this "Keep an eye out, ebay are revising peoples BIN listings and adding half price Best offer. They did it to my OH overnight on a mobile phone! This is low even for ebay."

Which they are.

You wanted to bury your head in the sand so I found some ebay threads which there are several if you can be bothered to find them.

Oh look... The non existent email they sent (zero evidence!).

You're just being deliberately obtuse. Allowing people to make offers is not the same as Ebay imposing an 'automatic accept' of 50% of the BIN price. That is pretty much my only point & you peddle falsehoods when you say Ebay do that.
[splatsplatsplat15 m agoKeep an eye out, ebay are revising peoples BIN listings and adding half price Best offer. They did it to my OH overnight on a mobile phone! This is low even for ebay.]

This is false. Ebay never did this.
FFS, it doesn’t auto accept, it just sets the auto rejection for anything less than half.

For example, if you have an item at £100, if someone offers £49.99 or less it will auto decline, if they offer £50 to £99.99 you will have to manually decline, or accept of course.

Every single thread on here has examples of people not displaying the common sense they were born with, it’s driving me daft.

I had eBay change my auction as well, I received an email telling me that they've added a 'best offer' option when I always turn this off when selling, I filled in one of their surveys and left a stinking reply telling them to leave me auctions alone, it's for me to decide how I sell, not them!!
Ebay have changed both my and my wife's listings recently, my wife had to cancel a sale because the BO price was dropped to a stupidly low amount, the buyer wasn't happy even after we explained what had happened! Ebay are interfering with private listings...............and it's bloody annoying!!!

Yeah mate. Both times 0 feedback buyers won then no longer registered on eBay afterwards. Even put in listing if you have 0 feedback I'm cancelling your bid. They bid last few seconds
gemvis7 h, 14 m ago

Put it on buy it now with immediate payment

Will try that mate. Just to confirm this offer means the final value fee will be £0? So instead of the usual £1 fee this offer is £0?
I've noticed on 1 account ebay are automatically adding best offer to items every 7 days of being listed but very annoying espicially if for example you list 5 items per day and not all sell it means everyday youll get a notification of offers added tho ive not had them manually adjust the fixed price?

I have had the same issue. I did some reading and if you use the advanced listing tool rather than the quick listing tool you can opt out of this awful thing I believe (not tried it myself yet though as waiting for next FV deal). I don't like having that i will consider offers as you just end up with load of people trying to take the p. Would rather just list it and see if it goes. I do my research on what others are going for so dont need ebay making any decisions on my behalf. Its my stuff not theirs.
