Described on the site as barebone but not the case as it's more the case that there is no OS on board.

Specs:

Intel Celeron N3450 / Intel HD Graphics 500 SOC (TDP 6W)
4Gb DDR3 RAM
64Gb eMMC
3 x USB 3.0
Gigabit Ethernet
802.11 a/b/g/n/ac WiFi (single antenna)
VGA
HDMI (type unspecified)
Bluetooth 4.0
SD card slot
TV mounting bracket
Audio jack

Personally if I was looking for am Apollo Lake mini PC, I would go for the Vorke V1 plus that was a Windows licence, HDD/SSD expansion, the slightly better J3455 and known HDMI 2.0 for the extra £14 although this has a lower TDP and an extra USB 3.0 port but it may appeal to those that like the features for what they would use it for and want to keep the price as low as possible.

That will be dependent upon the OS that you install.

Windows will have the greatest versatility when it comes to accessing streaming services.

I thought was a hardware based DRM or am I confusing it with another?

Maybe you are thinking about HDCP for the HDMI port?
VOYO V1 VMac on gearbest with win 10? Admittedly eu plug but easy to get adaptor.

From what I've read the apollo lake can only handle hdmi 1.4b so how does the other one provide hdmi 2.0 that's supposed to be one of the advantages of the next gen gemini lake chips?

Good spot with the Voyo as an alternative to this one.

There is a neat little trick that can be used via a DP to HDMI controller, which can enable full 4K, HDMI 2.0 and some boxes and boards use this.
