Amazon have reduced their echo plus 2nd gen - in the drop down you can choose free Hue bulb too.

  • Echo Plus has a built-in Zigbee hub to easily set up and control your compatible smart home devices, and an improved sound for streaming music.
  • Premium speakers powered by Dolby play 360° audio with crisp vocals and dynamic bass response. You can also adjust equaliser settings within the Alexa app.
  • Just ask Alexa to play music, read the news, check weather forecasts, set alarms and timers, control compatible smart home devices, call anyone with an Echo device, the Alexa App or Skype, and more.
  • Set up your smart home without a separate hub. Ask Alexa to control compatible Zigbee smart lights, plugs and more. Echo Plus also includes a built-in temperature sensor.
  • Ask Alexa for a song, artist or genre from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, TuneIn and more. With multi-room music, you can play music on your compatible Echo devices in different rooms.
  • Call almost anyone hands-free including UK mobile and residential numbers (from UK only), other Echo devices, Alexa app and Skype. Link your Vodafone account to make and receive mobile calls. Instantly drop in on other rooms in your home or make an announcement to every room with a compatible Echo device.
  • With seven microphones, beam-forming technology and noise cancellation, Echo Plus hears you from any direction - even while music is playing.
  • Designed to protect your privacy. Built with multiple layers of privacy protection and control, including a Microphone Off button that electronically disconnects the microphones.

Is thr a 3rd gen Echo plus as well? Or just the Echo 3rd gen.
I have the 1st Echo Plus. Going good. These new versions, are they much better than the 1st Gen?

Yes.. But why would do this? Hue has a great app and routines. Plus you need it to update firmware of devices
The best quality sound in the Echo range.
Does a Smart Things hub allow you to use hue stuff without a hue bridge?

You shouldn't be sorry. This isn't worth it as they were this price last year bf deals.
Should be £89 now at least.
But it's a good deceive .
What's the point of an echo with hub when I already have a hub for the internet?

A hub in this case is a smart hub which means you can control other smart devices like lighting, cameras, heating etc. Not sure if what you mean is a modem/router which delivers your internet...

Depends if you’ve got the 3rd gen (black and cylindrical) hub, then there’s no point in replacing it imo it can also listen out for broken windows and a few other little security features
I’m currently waiting on a hive hub (BG hive deal), 2 x echo dots, and the 3rd gen echo. Would it be worth me cancelling the echo order and reordering this echo plus? I’m thinking for the fact this is a smart hub? Any links that people have used to aid them? Thanks guys

Not sure if the 3rd gen echo will double as the hub for hive thermostat. If it does, cancel the hive order, re order again from hive directly and get the thermostat, receiver and used the echo as the hub.

Not sure it’ll work though? I think Hive uses Zigbee but I may be wrong?
