You watch screens they don't watch you, are you referring to the camera? Technology can be baffling can't it!

Nice
Can you limit screen time on these? Been trying to find a way but looks like only US has KidsFire control.

The show 8 has a physical shutter on the camera.
I understand the Show 8 has larger screen but do people actually use this to watch video? I'm assuming most people have a tablet for watching movies/tv shows in bed or on the move?

Just trying to decide between the show 5 and show 8 but don't understand what i'd do with the larger screen.
What are these used for? I’ve got an echo on order, would the sound be as good?

We use ours as a digital photo frame. Love the bigger screen for that.

We use ours in the kitchen on the breakfast bar, mostly plays Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly. Also use it to view the Ring doorbell. Speaker is better on Show 8.
£10 more for an extra 3 inches, I'll take it
I absolutely love our Show 8. Love it.

I did the same, when it was on offer last time at 59, mine was due on the 14th but it's coming tomorrow, should've waited man..
Got one of these free with a Ring video camera. I have lots of Google Home (Nest) stuff already but thought I'd give it a go. Alexa is absolutely rubbish compared to Google Assistant. Will be selling it.
anyone got experience with this and the lenova smart display?

Want one mainly for the kitchen for music and recipes/videos but worried about how amazon compares with google voices assistance and the whole youtube compatibility (though I do know youtube is available recently)

You can use YouTube by opening Firefox browser. I'll be honest, it's not great though. It's best used for streaming Prime Video. You might be better with a Nest Hub if You Tube is most important to you. If you don't have any existing devices, I would have a careful read before buying in to a particular ecosystem.

Yes, Im in a bit of an awkward situation. My only subscription is prime and only have a google mini. I dolike Google's software but does not work well with amazon music. I would like to get an echo but its taken so long for the firestick to get youtube app (the box standard smart app), I'm worried how compatible echoes will be in the future with youtube.

Yes I know that one full well. I'm going to be ditching Amazon Music and giving Spotify a go when mine runs out, as it's not compatible with voice control on Android Auto. Another consequence of this stupid war these two companies are having

Why is Alexa so bad?
Such a shame Amazon music isn’t as good as Spotify (in my opinion) - just doesn’t feel like it discovers well or creates any element of surprise in their playlists - which are only curated carefully and not by normal punters

Sound quality is much better on the 8, much closer to the Echo (not the dot, the bigger one).
Does this have ZigBee built in ?
