Just been into Currys in Wakefield and noticed that the Echo Show in white is priced at £119 whereas the Echo show in black is £139.
Not sure if nationwide but a heads up to anyone looking for the white.

Can view certain IP camera for home security, can watch video clips, digital picture frame, display smart home control panels, keep an eye on the baby, can do facetime type chats with other users. Lots of uses

Mother lives in Barbados an this is ideal for communicating with her.
Still no You tube so still no purchase from me.
The price of this is only going one way. Its simply not a desirable product. Heat for the deal, but it'll be cheaper still in 3 months time
As much as I like buying things, I cannot justify this, maybe when it comes down abit in price

Sounds way better than other Echo devices. Let’s you watch Amazon prime.
Lyrics during Prime music playback on screen, etc.
This is so ugly! It's s'posed to be a lifestyle piece of kit that looks great in your home but it looks more like something you'd be taking to the skip... ...as much as I despise Apple I'm sure they'll make a far superior looking bit of kit that will do the same job...probably cost 4 times as much though!

I’ve now been able to get my NON compatible IP cameras to display on the Show which certainly makes it a little more useful.

New skill, Monoclecam, now allows any IP camera with an RTSP feed to be displayed on the Show or Spot. No different to a NestCam or any other similar

Not sure I’d want it as a centrepiece anywhere but on my kitchen worktop it looks right at home and certainly not out of place
Worth about 50 quid maximum. Will need to give them away with Prine to shift them.

Great for the kitchen and can see these will be a standard bit of kit hence forth, but the actual design is still very dull and pretty ugly IMHO. Different skins, customisable speaker grills and a few design tweeks and it's there!

Anyway, more useful would be a rechargeable, waterproof echo for the bathroom...when you're submerged in the bubbly stuff a voice activated music box would be just the job...come on amazon, it's a no brained!
hoping amazon do a bank holiday sale. The lowest i've ever bought one at was £80 from Amazon on a sale
I have a Dot, Original Echo, Spot and a Show. This one sounds way better than the others and works brilliantly as a large kitchen stereo. At this price the sound alone justifies the purchase (if you can live with the styling) however the screen while not essential is actually pretty good in a kitchen. Getting visual feedback to question answers and showing album artwork and, playlist choices is a nice touch.

I have a Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom which connects to Echo Dot on the rare occasions I need it. Works perfectly. A friend has a bathroom mirror with a Bluetooth speaker which does the same

That would make the Echo worth about 20 quid then. You've never run a business have you?

Same here, looks great in my kitchen. Don't get the animosity towards this product....

Song lyrics, it can answer 'visual' questions like show me songs by..., show me my audiobooks etc, view film trailers, but the unexpected benefit I use most is the news stories it displays - it shows headlines and you can ask for more should you need to know more about it.

It can display countdown timers - which is useful if used in a kitchen (which is where mine is, although mine is predominantly used as a voice-controlled radio).

The reasons are soo many as already expounded by others, you need to get it, explore it, to understand. Those who have owned it know its value
Got these when the last offer was on for £160 for two.Got to say we use them both quite a lot and make good use of them. One is in the kitchen for timers, conversions and music and such. The other is in the bedroom for audio books and alarms and music as well..The speakers on them are pretty good as well.

I've got one in my kitchen. Love it, sound is good so even as a speaker I think it's worth it - of course I paid nowt like the rrp - think it was £90. Plus I get all the other stuff I have absolutely no idea about. Got two Spots and tell them to play stuff on the Sonos, they will probably turn on the Phillips lights but haven't got that far yet.

It's a yes from me

Don’t get me wrong. Early doors I thought it was lacking ability but that’s slowly coming through thanks to skill makers

I think if you can’t think of a reason to get one then you really don’t need one.

Serious FOMO nowadays with new gadgets and so many buy because others have or just because they think they should. They then spend hundred more to justify a purchase.

At the end of the day if you think you’ll use one, go for it but play the long game. If you don’t then watch out for the next big thing.

Personally for me, the speakers lack clout of even the lowest in the Sonos range (which have throughout my house) but that’s not to say they aren’t good in their own right.

Everyone I know that has purely Echo speakers is very happy

I’ve had Sonos speakers for quite a while from the 1,3,5 and even the playbar plus sub so yes it doesn’t touch the 1 for sound but I paid just over half the price of a 1 and it does other stuff on top hence why I think it’s good value.

Oh totally agree. But add a Dot into the mix (I’ve got 8 echo devices in total) and you’ve got the best of both worlds.

Ha tell me about it! I’m up to 1 show, 2 spots and a kindle with Alexa built in. It’s worse than the Sonos bug. Thankfully it’s cheaper.
