I moved to eclipse about 6 months ago after being with Pipex for several years. I must say I am most impressed with their custome service. Thoroughly recommended.

There was nothing wrong with the Pipex service but for £6 per month less I got upto 8mb speed (although the area I live in I can't achieve that) and to date not had one issue with the connection.

Have heard good things about this company and they seem to get good customer satisfaction reviews.I have cable broadband so can't see me changing, but if I did would deffo consider these.

Also recommended are ]newnet.co.uk who may work out cheaper for some people. Quality service!

I'd suggest that anyone signing up to broadband check out reviews on sites such as ]ispreview.co.uk to see how good an ISP is before paying any money..

I used to be an Eclipse customer and left them recently because they weren't delivering the speeds that they promised.

They carry out something called 'throttling' on their network. Which means that you never get anywhere near the speeds they advertise. During peak hours (anytime after 7pm) I suffered with surfing speeds closer to dial-up for most of the time.

It doesn't matter what tier you sign up to because they throttle all customers.

I've now moved to an Entanet reseller and my surfing is wizzing along nicely. I thoroughly recommend you read the reviews and get advice from forums like ]thinkbroadband.co.uk.

Only my opinion, but I would avoid them - they promise more than they can deliver.

O recently switched to eclipse and I won't be staying after my contract is out. Sloooowww connections speed (not my line as I live next to my exchange and have line tested to 7.4 meg) when I complained they said that they consider anything above 400kbps to be acceptable on a 8 meg connection !!! Went with them as they were cheap but have quickly learnt my lesson. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

cheers for the - guys

this deals all about ppl who want to pay less money for internet and not 100% bothered about there speeds being bang on each time!!!

im on the lowest package and i to suffer from half speed "4mb" @ peak hours and yes u dp get what u pay for but im sure eclipse will sort any problems basicly i think u didn't get told the right thing about ur 400kbps is acceptable!!! ive never been told this! i bet u were on the £14.99 package thinking ull get full speed all the time!!!

if its 1 thing i hate its bandwidth hoggers!!

they were like this a long long time ago but alot had changed for eclipse!!!

i hate these guys very high if ur not bothered about download speeds @ peek times and ur not a bandwidth junkie!!! but im sure as u all know that aol are changing there caps from unlimited to a hard cap!!! this is gonna hit the adsl community very hard cause they were the only ones left to keep it unlimited which they will stop in feb!!! eclipse is the next best thing ti unlimited imho

I have recently joined eclipse and everything has been great. I live in the back arse of no where and the speed and connection is great. Not the 8mb as stated but I can have no complaints. Also, for every person you get to join eclipse, u get 30pounds, which aint bad. Get 5 people to join, you practically get your broadband free for the year. Not bad!! I'll leave my referrer code 110782, incase some of you good people want to join eclipse and give me 30pounds along the way lol

I am not on the cheapest package at all my friend. here is a quote copied and pasted directly from my eclipse reply
"Sync speed above 2272kbps up to 8128Kbps; throughput between 400 - 7150Kbps"

I have just speedtested my connection at 0.78meg !!!

Neg not aimed at you personally but meant to reflect on how good a deal I think that Eclipse can offer

Original Poster

k00l not taking it personal at all m8!!!!

look like some ppl get it some dont u just have to battle them for it sometimes.

u quiting ur contract then m8????

i can't see them saying .78mb is acceptable m8 i think that is a huge put off on this deal that aint true. they HAVE TO do something about those speeds!!!

I don'tthink that it's very good value for money at all. They do have service and session limitations. If you go over it, they'll cut your speed.
I'm with bulldog. I get an 8meg line, with no limits and phone line for £30.

My point is that they HAVE quoted any speed above 400kbps is acceptable on a 8 meg connection and that THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I am far from the only one with slow speeds from Eclipse so I fel that this is at least a point worth mentioning.

As Macray has mentioned already look at thinkbroadband.com

Eclipse have a bit of a mixed reception...

Eclipse offer most people the standard BT ADSLmax product - ie UPTO 8Mbps line synch depending on line length and its quality. That does NOT mean everyone gets 8Mbps, nor does it mean that data will flow at that line synch rate but inevitably at a LOWER rate. That's the nature ADSLmax and NOT Eclipse.

HOWEVER Eclipse DO "throttle" some connections/traffic - in particular NNTP which it appears some gamers use, tends to be SLOW by comparison with other ISPs and hence SOME customers are unhappy and/or have left.

Personally I was upset when Eclipse sought to move me from the standard BT ADSLmax circuit to a LLU connection WITHOUT asking my permission as that would mean I could NOT migrate readily (by the 'MAC' procedure) if/when I wanted to change ADSL provider. However by kicking up a stink I was able to opt out of that, as are all customers now it seems.

Performance and reliability wise I've been very happy with the service and in fact it just keeps getting faster for me (I believe the weather/temperature affects the quality of the line). When I had a glitch their people were VERY helpful and it was a regular 0845 or 01 support number and not some grotesque 0870 or even more outrageous 09 number.

For last couple of months I've had a 3.5Mbps circuit with performance up to 2.8Mbps which I'm very happy with for my £14.99/m.

NO ISP is perfect but VFM wise Eclipse would be hard to beat.

i was with eclipse for 5 years, then their service began to drop. Also they were moving people onto llu service. Moved to namesco and haven't had any problems yet
