Also in store at the Toiletries section. Good reviews on Amazon where it's £6.49+ for 100ml currently amazon.co.uk/pro…ful

Can see there's a free delivery code mentioned on some voucher sites, WELCOME, but not sure if it's expired or for new customers only. (Doesn't seem to work but see Post #11, the Newsletter Sign-up 10% off code HB10EMSU seems active, even on old accounts).

Click And Collect or Home Delivery are Free over £20, otherwise 95p C&C (cheapest option for me in my city - think the C&C price depends how many miles away your store is?).
Or £2.99 Standard Delivery - £3.99 Next Day Delivery.

Luckily I have a Holland And Barrett store quite near me, so going to pop in and pick some up.

Blurb says:

"Effectively removes plaque
Has a strong whitening and uniquely refreshing effect
The innovative substance in Ecodenta Extra Black Whitening Toothpaste is known as Teavigo™; it protects against tartar, provides a gentle antibacterial effect, and leaves you with a long-lasting feeling of cleanliness and freshness. Presenting a more refreshing toothpaste with more whitening which is as black as coal!"

Vegan and Fluoride Free, according to reviews, too. If you're concerned about the lack of Fluoride, the company recommend "...this toothpaste in the morning and a 'regular fluoride' toothpaste in the evening".

Here's another online review with a Before and After pic: reallyree.com/eco…ew/ (though, looking at them closely, they look far too similar to be different photos).

Black toothpaste makes your teeth whiter? Weird. HOT anyhoo....

Welcome code doesn't work.

Original Poster

There was a brush-on stain remover/whitener tube I used about 20 odd years ago - dark red and had an almost aniseed-y taste. For the life of me can't remember its name but think it was deemed too abrasive and taken off the market.

It was excellent and did work, would imagine this is a similar principle (abrasive agents) - though probably not as harsh on the teeth!

Edit: It was called Gordon Moore's Toothpaste - been off the market for years. Apparently (not sure how true it is) the current equivalent is 'Email Diamant' toothpaste which is French. Linky for the curious (the price is a bit silly though) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Email-Diamant-Original-Cosmetic-Toothpaste/dp/B00BY8IWJI

Not sure about the claim that the red toothpaste "reddened the gums to make teeth look whiter" which sounds pretty unsavoury - I felt it did produce a noticeable whitening effect.

Going off on a tangent slightly but I also use Crest Whitestrips now and then, always the Supreme variety - it's the best one you can get afaik. Tried various Crest 3D Whitening varieties and been disappointed in them.

Euthymol?

I Edited and answered my own question! X)

Had a £2 voucher emailed to me from H&B on the 17th Feb... usually treated as junk, but put to good use with this offer!

Heat added (although 95p to collect an item from store is a bit ridiculous in my opinion.. who else does that??)

I've scoured all sorts of promo code sites and even searched through my emails, no code

My niece in typical teenager fashion has said, "OMG! My friend uses this and loves it - get me some!" so I'll try it tomorrow and over a few days, myself.

I use it - definitely works ! Helps remove stains so makes teeth look better but I wouldn't say it whitens it

If you do the Newsletter Sign Up it lets you have a 10% off discount code there and then. Mine was HB10EMSU - not sure if it's a random code. Just going to try it.

Update: Yes it works! Not sure if it's a one-time only code though, was able to use it on my normal account where I've made older orders.

Also got two of these (because I'm a paleface and I love loose powder) - only one left, otherwise I'd have bought more - Lavera Trend Sensitiv Fine Loose Mineral Powder - Buy One, Get One Half Price - £4.99 hollandandbarrett.com/sho…780

Rather than C&C for 95p, would this be likely to be available in store or a pretty rare find?

Was trying to find decent reviews of this - couldn't really see any from bloggers but it was suggested that they were bought in store. I'm (hopefully) going to pop in if I've got time at lunch

Edit: Yes, it's in store - picked one up from Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow at the Toiletries section. Asked about makeup (as I quite fancied more of that Lavera Mineral Loose Powder) but they said the nearest store to stock makeup is Silverburn.

In South Asia tooth powder is quite common as an alternative to toothpaste. It's black, usually a mixture of charcoal, sugar, black salt and camphor plus various roots. Essentially it's a slightly abrasive polish, like jeweller's rouge for teeth. You apply with fingertips and rub away until your teeth squeak when you rub bare fingertips across them

There are also Asian toothpaste brands that we in the West find rather shocking/amusing, depending on your take on things. Though I'm sure most people know about these. xojane.com/iss…way

Mine's been delivered to store today to Queen Street - so less than two days (as I ordered around 11pm at night!). Just realised the Lavera Mineral Powder isn't actually foundation but H&B do sell a Mineral Foundation range called Beautiful Me (which is also buy one, get one half price - seems to get great reviews) http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/free-from/beauty/make-up/foundations-primers-concealers/

(Edit - Queen Street store does have some makeup - saw Burt's Bees items - lip balms, etc). The £1.99 Ecodenta Extra Black Toothpaste section was empty

Here's the annoying thing... I ordered online for C&C (paid the 95p - see my earlier comment) and when I went to collect... there was a good amount of stock sitting pretty on the shelf.

Whilst I'm on... I can 'sort of' vouch for the product. It seems to have some mildly positive results. I've been using corsodyl mouthwash, which I know causes staining (urgh)... not a huge issue as I have a scale and polish at the Dentist three times a year. However, this toothpaste seems to keep staining at bay. My upper gnashers are whitening nicely after maybe a week or so of use!

I did the same - ordered online then saw Ecodenta in a few local H&B stores over the following days - not in there often ordinarily.

There is a subtle difference - though I am probably not the best guinea pig as I use a Sonicare brush regularly, also Crest Whitestrips (Supreme) every now and then, so my teeth look pretty bright anyway. I brush with Ecodenta first manually then use my Sonicare with Colgate (using Enamel Protection variety atm).
