Thing is these are not for me, I have had friends ask me to get them some, and then more people on top of that, managed to get a few from DX, only problem is that as soon as someone else see's them I get another phone call saying "Oh, can you get so and so one of them things please mate?" why is it so hard to just buy something?
LoL,

Mike..

Hi, I wondered if someone could give me a bit of advice. I recently bought a cyclo ds evolution, I love it, but the problem is I have two ds' so I was looking for another cartridge that I could use on the second ds to fit a second sd card. I figured I could buy a separate micro sd card for it with bigger memory as they are quite cheap at the moment. I have two kids and they are constantly fighting over who gets to use it, so I figured I could copy the same data onto the second sd. Would this product be suitable - I noticed you have to log onto a website before you can use it. I hope someone could point me in the right direction - I am a bit confused!!!! I didn't want to buy a second cyclo system as I paid quite a bit for it. I hope this ramble makes sense!!!

Yeah it is worth a try.
Dealextreme do have some very good prices whilst they carry the stock, but as soon as everyone finds out about this they will dry up FAST, as DX are terrible at keeping enough stock to hand.
I have ordered 3 of then, to replace the 3 TTDS's I ordered for my friends, hopefully these will ship a lot faster than the "always-out-of0stock" TTDS cards!!

Mike..

Thanks for the quick reply, I think I might chance it. If it works I might order some more for presents. I have just been looking through the website and I love some of their stuff, especially the toys and gadgets!

Been after something like this so I've given it a go.

I'll try one of these then, i've been waiting for R4's to come back into stock for what feels like a life time now.
Thanks OP heat added

Are you sure it wasn't your parents parents that ordered the R4 from dealextreme, as there is no way you would get it in your own lifetime from them, ha ha ha

I don't know about cyclo ds, but if its a R4 card, you can just copy all the stuff from one SD card to another and use it immediately without any setting up.

The games and .sav files should be the same (not to sure on .sav, but it should be) the firmware has to be downloaded from the official website

Hope that helps,

Mike..

Yeah - thanks a lot everyone for your help - am very grateful, all this new stuff you can get confuses me!!!

What do these do - what are they for? Sorry I'm a bit thick when it comes to these things!

John

Yes but are they in stock though. I know they say they are but get ready for the dreaded email 4 weeks later. Still voted hot good spot...

All as Nintnedo DS is really is a computer, yet it differs from your PC/laptop in the sense that it is like a closed book. You can install software onto your PC, copy images to it, run programs etc... none of which you can do on your DS because you physically cant get the stuff onto it, and if you could you wouldnt be able to do anyhting with it. These cards contain a removeable memory card and an environment that allows you to do this, so you can play MP3's, watch movies and play games (controversially) off the card, amongst other things.

Well CycloDS is better, but this is a clone. Needs testing and reviews.
Apart from features, it down too how good are the team working on the software side, to adding new features, fixes and support which CycloDS team is very good at. Read the reviews from ]http//gb…ome

Need to wait and see if they are any good when someone gets one in hand, looks like it is a new arrival at dealextreme, so it may acually be in stock for a week or so

Mike..

Found this.....of what relevance I'm not sure.....I have a couple of R4's and they perform fine. Difference between this and the cyclo appears to be the lack of a 16mbit flash chip where OS is stored. Not sure if the R4 has this chip?

The different is that, CycloDS don't use arm7 fix on rom. Where R4 did on worms 2, but was fixed on next firmware which took very long to release.

Also CycloDS support:
microsd SDHC upto 32gb
in-game Enhanced Mode Menu (which offer reset, slow motion etc...)
real time save
auto random multiple skin support every startup

R4 still great for its price, but quite out dated now with DSTT, M3DS Real etc... with better features at the same price range or less and even bundles a free rumble pack:thumbsup:

i too have been waiting for R4 to come back in stock at dealexreme ,
friend seen my daughters and "ooo can you get me one of them "
thing is i have already bought the micro card for her, just waiting for R4 ,
Can anyone recommend a decent , simple to use cart that will take the 2 gig micro ,please , she been pestering me since xmas
many thanks

Anyone in a desperate rush for a card.
Try
[url]WWW.SUPERCARDSTORE.COM[/url]

Chris lime is the guy that runs it, and i have had a few R4's.
He does other models too, but i'm happy with the R4.
After all these things all do basically the same thing (play back up roms)

Might be a bit more expensive than ordering from abroad, but i've always had delivery in 2 days
P&P is included (unless you want recorded)

It's an option if your in a hurry

Recieved my R4 last week from VolumeRate after ordering end of November.
Try the DSTT, its dead cheap and simple to use.
For a couple of quid extra I would give this Edge card a go seeing that its a clone of the CycloDS which is supposed to be one of the best cards.

Just bought DS's for the kids birthdays. I'm interested in understanding whether I should be buying something like this. What software is available for download, and what size is it i.e do I need a huge mini-sd card to store a couple of applications?... I looked at the wikipedia links but they are techy rather than practical... anyone point me in the right direction to help me understand the benefit?

The benefit is playing pirate (or backed up, however you want to label it) games. You can use moonshell as a very basic media player (got to convert vids to DPG, music it plays mp3 fine) and a few homebrew progs/emulators.

The DS homebrew scene is pretty much non-existent compared to the PSP (but the PSP has virtually no commercial games - as a console it's terrible, it's most fun using it for other stuff).

The R4 is perfect imo. Just copy any .nds file and the launcher just works.

I still think people are being a bit coy about what these do, and why they want them.
First have a nintendo DS or DS lite.
You buy one of these adapters
You buy a microSD card (e.g. from play.com)
You download games from torrent sites like piratebay and uncompress them [this is illegal]
You copy the game 'ROM's' onto the microSD along with an operating system file from the manufacturers website for this adapter.[illegal]
You now switch on your Nintendo DS and have access to all the games you downloaded [illegal]

Seeing as you can have approx 50 games fitting on a 2gb microSD card, for a total cost approx the same price as a single game in the shops, these must be a disaster for Nintendo.

Hence Nintendo DS's sold out everywhere, and these type of adapters sold out all the time.
Also lots of people looking for the best price on microSD or microSDHC cards.

It is NOT Illegal to do any of the things you have suggested. Everyone has an entitlement to own
1 back up copy of the game they have purchased. Seeing as you wouldnt be able to do this yourself, people started designing these flash carts as a means of doing just that. So as long as you own the original copy, you have done nothing wrong(but if you dont own it,its probably best to lie about it like everyone else does).:whistling:

In the USA, that is true. In the UK it is not. Any copying of copyright materials from one media type to another, even for backup, is illegal. This includes ripping a CD onto your ipod or copying a CD for use in your car.

Ta ordered a couple!

I think I must be really lucky. I ordered two DSTT on Thursday morning and they came recorded delivery on Friday. Ordered them online at gadgetz4all.com. Haven't got any in stock now. Wish I'd now about these EdgeDS, would have been cheaper - paid £58.85 for two including delivery.

Many thanks
