I bought one of these for a mate and was very impressed at the range and signal quality. The only thing I didn't like was the drivers supplied insisted on installing the Edimax network utility rather than using windows built in wifi management.

what is wrong with edimax drivers please will it work out the box with out edimax drivers.

no, it won't work without drivers, but it will work wihout the utlity which is bundled with the drivers - this has nothing to do with this model in particular, most disable windows built in wifi management.. sucks yeah.. but just disable the utility..

These any good compared to the sweex ones? I'm in a different room at uni halls this year and I can't get a decent signal.

thanks

good price

No details of the radio power, but the 3dBi antenna should help some.

Don't expect miracles. If you're struggling at home, you're better pairing this with a 802.11n ratified AP.

If you're struggling and don't have control over the network infrastructure, you would be better off with one of the 500mw Alfa devices (Although these are not actually legal in the UK).

Also at play.com for 12.99 with possible quidco

I have one, bought it about 2 weeks ago. Highly reccomed as reception is much better than my wireless in my laptop and the device looks quite good too...

amazing price.

Works on 64bit windows 7 with no drivers....

Does this work on the 360?

'Excellent' ...in a Mr Burns style voice!

Thanks I might just buy one. I have a Belkin Wireless N router and one Belkin N USB dongle. With that dongle, I get a solid 150mb, which I don't even get by using a direct LAN cable. I needed another Wireless N dongle, but an extra Belkin one is about £45!

This is ideal. (WIll probably buy from Play though, to get Quidco).

Won't work with the 360, no.

using this item now i think it is only slightly better than built in vista. antena does anybody know of any usb adapter like this one with larger antena for similar price please.

No. You need one of the Alfa products but they retail for ~£40.

Alternatively, if you're not tremendously vertically positioned from your AP, get a higher gain antenna and bung it on. This looks like it supports R-SMA. Worth checking.

Now £10.93
