Edinburgh straiton - cheap petrol! Costco 104.9, Sainsbury’s 105.9

Must be a bit of a petrol price war going on at straiton edinburgh.

Costco are doing unleaded at 104.9 and diesel at 111.9

The Sainsbury’s across the road is 1p dearer per litre but you don’t need Costco membership to access those prices.

Some other petrol stations I passed on the way here were near 120p per litre so big saving on a full tank of petrol/diesel.

Must be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest, petrol stations in the uk!

Hmmm looks like I will be getting some more juice tonight! Thanks OP!
Interesting! Are they selling at a loss? Or are we paying too much and at the mercy of the oil giants?
was 113.9 & 116.9 at bristol costco when i went on the weekend.great deal in edinburgh!
Far cheaper than my local Costco (Gateshead):117.9p petrol, 119.9p diesel. Expected Costco prices to be national but they're hapoy to beat the Metrocentre Asda by a penny a litre.
OP do you happen to be around that area often? I am just wondering if the price is likely to jump up to standard prices within next few days (as I might not have time to drive down there today, probably more likely around Saturday)? Wondering if the deal is likely to be on at this time.
Thanks!
My local is selling diesel at 125.9 (Bath)
Straiton has been substantially cheaper in the Edinburgh area now for a long time.

The addition of the Costco forecourt has driven the prices down further though with a Sainsburys and Asda nearby (both within 0.5miles) also trying to stay close to the lower price.

FWIW, the Sainsburys at Cameron Toll is also a lot cheaper than many other local suppliers (though still 3-5p more expensive than Straiton).

I payed £1.28 per litre for diesel at a petrol station yesterday...they were also selling Jags at £77,000, wouldn’t have stopped if I wasn’t on the red. Heat added as that’s a great price.

I’m out there about once a month but the prices has always been 106.9 when I’ve been there in the last few months so think they are competitive all the time, at least at present.
I work in Loanhead so was a godsend when Costco opened up their garage. Save so much using them for their 99 Ron petrol.

Yeah, petrol/diesel pricing in Bath is a bloody disgrace. Sainsbury's in cahoots with the two Esso stations owned by the same company. It's actually cheaper at the Texaco in Box, in the middle of nowhere.
Jesus its 1.25 at the BP garage round the corner here ........
I have been filling up at Sainsbury's, Straiton, every week for a while now.
Can't wait for the Glasgow Costco one to open in April!
£109.9 for super yesterday
i paid 135.9 for shell v-power is that a lot?
Yeah they are not saying the pound has risen against the dollar from a low of 1.20s to 1.40 now as an excuse to drop the price of petrol but have actually increased in that time.

They usually cry oh the pound have dropped a couple of cents so we need to put the prices up.

Bloody liars
^ but has the cost of a barrel of oil (in dollars) risen in that time so that the barrel cost in pounds has stayed the same or increased?

Something to consider (although most likely scenario is that we're being ripped off - quick to raise and slow to drop prices).

Brent crude prices today
The retailer's margin is normally a few pence per litre.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was a loss leader or sold at cost.

My local Costco is usually only 2p cheaper than Asda, not worth it imo as they only accept AMEX OR debit cards

V-Power at the moment is 1.30-1.33 on average so you didn't fair too badly.

Excellent fuel!

Ah, thanks for that. I've seen them building it but wasn't sure when it would open.
I used them a few weeks ago and it was about 8p less than Sainsbury's if I recall correctly. I guess Sainsbury's must have taken the hint.

There's a BP station that I pass in Glasgow from time to time near Ibrox. £1.31 per litre for diesel last time I passed. I know BP are usually more expensive but that is taking the mick, especially when there is an Esso across the road about 10p a litre less and an Asda less than a mile away. Very strange.
Added heat - the local garage is 123.9 for unleaded and I think Tesco was 121.9 when I passed the other day. If I'm well enough to drive tomorrow I'll pop out to Sainsbury's. :-)
