Who cares? 2 year warranty on what is avery good coffee machine.

I have had this machine since may 2012 I'm not knocking it., just pointing out its discontinued.

The better looking black version is still regularly in and out of stock for £199 at Tesco.

But currently its out of stock?

I'm still in search for a good coffee machine and I'm the only one in the house which drinks coffee.
Is this a bit of overkill for myself? I dont want the pods solution and never found they give enough kick.

I'm only making this assumption because on the description picture I see it making two cups of coffee at the same time....still overkill for my needs?

Not really. I mainly use this machine just for myself and I love it. It's really noisy, especially when grinding beans, but the coffee is great.

The dials on the front allow you to configure how much coffee is ground and how much water is passed through it so you can set the strength and quantity to whatever your preference hen you press either the 1 cup or 2 cup button.

I didn't say it was, I said "still regularly in and out of stock", it was there at the weekend and I'm sure it'll be back again soon. When it has been, Amazon have sometimes price matched it.

Don't use the dial to adjust strength, you use it to get a proper sized shot of espresso and then if you want a longer/weaker drink you add water from the wand. If you do it as suggested you just ruin the shot by over or under extracting.

The price watchers miss loads of prices, they're only really any good as a guide to price trends, but that one is on the camel.

You will get a much better Delonghi machine for similar money if you keep an eye on Amazon/John Lewis for a while

Yes you can add water from the wand to make Americano but you would adjust the dials to produce ristretto, single espresso, double espresso, lungo etc.

Nope, this is an espresso machine, it's designed to make single and double shots automatically. If you want a different drink you add hot water or milk. The double shot button doubles the amount of water and the amount of coffee.

If you put more water through the coffee you're extracting stuff you don't want and will spoil the flavour not just diluting it. It's where most people to wrong with these machines but not helped by the fact the instructions don't cover any of this.

They are literally identical bar some very minor cosmetics and that iffy silver paint, so directly comparable.

The 4000b is the equivelant not the model you have quoted.

Sorry, yes that is the exception.

fearona35 m ago

The 4000b is the equivelant not the model you have quoted.

Yes, that is the absolutely identical in every way bar the color but not available to buy, the 2800 is the actually available, when in stock, black one that is identical in every way bar a few minor cosmetic differences to the front panel like I said.

Are you under some delusion the 4200 is a better machine, if so you've fallen for delonghi's marketing. When the Magnifica was their main non auto froth chassis they made loads of versions that were all the same machine with minor changes to the look of the front panel but sold for very different prices. They're doing the same with the two latest chassis as well.

"Are you under some delusion the 4200 is a better machine"
Where did I say that?
I stated what was the equivelant model nothing more nothing less.

Supermod

If anyone is having problems adding their membership number to bring the price down, just make sure it isn't auto-filling as for some reason it doesnt like this. You'll need to manually type it to bring up the price if your session has expired.

Nice deal but I’m going to see what Black Friday brings for these units I want one for xmas

I have one of these and they are excellent. I am also the only coffee drinker in the house, and it's not overkill, at all.

Go for it lifes too short and fresh coffee is the best.
i have a magnifica they all have 2 spouts and usually can set the amount of water etc that comes out, default would likely be making 2 espresso sized drinks at once so probably wouldn't fill a mug anyway. I have set mine to do a tea cup per grind. i only ever make 1 giant mug at a time under mine for me .
If you love fresh coffee, bean to cups are heaven. I tend not to buy coffee from coffee shops when i'm out because i know i can go home and enjoy a whole bag of beans worth for the price of a cup in cafe.
i've had mine 3 years now @ £230 works out roughly £6.50 a month. My coffee machine is used a lot, my partner used to drink coffee but gave up caffeine and then my daughter started drinking it. so about 8 cups per day at least it has to make. even if i was the only one coffee drinking i would never be without one.

I stock up on taylors beans when they're on offer and have ground decaffe at night so it is always in use. I bought a tassimo for when my daughters at my mothers, and the price of those pods is a rip off.

Sorry for such a long reply, but i hesitated the big purchase for years, wish i'd done it sooner. Being able to crawl down the stairs half asleep, pop a cup under and press a button, the sound of the beans grinding is like music to my ears, do it

There is no point in rigidly sticking to one model, there are many similar. Keep an eye on the site and jump when one goes low 200 ££££

Well I just signed up and was about to purchase and its not given me the discounted price...
I have signed up to membership - anything else I should have done?

Great machine!

I got this from Tesco last summer for £89 as they were selling off stock. It's good but the milk wand isn't very good compared to my other espresso machine.
