I love Christmas, I am like a big kid with lights & decorations, I would LOVE to live in Santa's Grotto (sadly my husband has something he call's "taste", so I'm not allowed to ), so I though the next best thing might be to pop a thread up where we can share deals / ideas + tips & eventually photo's of the masterpieces we have created!
Everyone is welcome, even those Scrooge like "Bah Humbugs" amongst us (@deeky), you never know, it might help cheer you up!

I'll add any offers I find under the individual categories and I'll update here with any better deals and price changes that I come across & PLEASE feel free to share any offers / ideas / tips & pics you have too! (even from past years, may help inspire people!)

The link goes to the current 3 for 2 offer on Indoor / Outdoor Lights & Decorations

I'll give you bah humbug. I'm just as Christmas-y as the next miserable old git.

For Christmas lights I just use my Philips Hue lights now. I've got 8 in the living room and the Christmas apps play Christmas-y music through the bluetooth speaker. It completely eliminates the need to be messing around with fairy lights. If you can afford them, I'd recommend them to anyone.

I still have to risk life and limb climbing up to put the fairy lights on the guttering though

Oh WOW, they are amazing @themachman

how does everyone power their lights outside

do you get a weatherproof multiblock box thing and run the cables into the box and then into the house?

If you have double glazing most of the cables are thin enough to just plug in inside and run the cable through the window.

sure will wish im after a new tree as my old one is knackered now

@themachman - I guess your tree in knackered from all the "stuff" you've hang on it over the years?

That prompts a double question to everyone on this thread - How many lights and how many decorations do you put on your indoor tree?

I got to get the ' My wife made me put these lights up' sign.

When you decorate your Xmas tree stick to a combination of just two colours, such as red/gold, or silver/black, this includes the tinsel, bead strings etc, and your tree will look as good as a professionally dressed one.

I will be decorating our tree today. Never too early for Christmas and besides we want to get our moneys worth out of the tree lol.

Best putting them up and standing back to admire
Worst is taking them down and seeing how dismal and dank it all now looks

taking them down is my favourite bit - the room looks massive

Anyone know where I can buy some Disney themed baubles? I know Primark sell these primark.com/en/…646 but they are always sold out in my local store.

I know Disney sell them but want £14 for 1.

All I can seem to find are Frozen and Star Wars.

Heat added! Very usefull so thanks OP. Just asking where do people recommend to buy an artificial Christmas tree from which is going to last, ideally wanting something pretty decent looking as we've had a cheap tree for years now. I saw before someone suggested balsam hill but when I looked at reviews they were terrible for customer service so that put me off. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

I got lucky on ebay. Managed to buy 12 disney tree ornaments on ebay for about £55. It sounds a lot but they where made in 1997/8 and are in great condition. Just need some baubles at the moment.

Ive just moved Alexa into my house (shame the wife didnt move out), got spotify, amazon prime all connected up etc. I was wondering which Hue lights you have/recommend please? Can you just replace in the lampshade where normal bulb is? My duaghter is desperate to copy the advert where they turn the room blue to pretend to be in the ocean! Thanks

Obviously the white and colour ambience bulbs are the main ones to get. I've got 5 of those, 4 in lamps and one in a drop shade. Then I have one strip light plus behind the sofa and 2 bloom lamps on the floor in corners.
I find that lamps with lighter coloured shades give the best effect. I also have 2 glass globe lamps from Ikea and they look great, and I think they're only about £13 each.
Youtube has loads of videos you can get ideas from. There are usually some decent deals on Amazon on black Friday so keep your eye open there.

Argos - Simple Value 80 String Lights - Multicoloured for £2.49 (part of the 3 for 2 mentioned above)

argos.co.uk/pro…172

Hi, I’m considering

argos.co.uk/pro…225

Anyone with any advice on that product? Thanks
