Hi all,

As you may of seen from the LG G2 deal from Vodafone, I have just purchased my first 4G enabled phone. I'm currently unsure if this is a existing customer deal or if new customers can get in on it to. All I do know is that it wasn't offered as some special deal for me.

I rang up for my options of switching from a 30 day T-Mobile plan to a EE 4G plan but I use a lot of data and wasn't prepared to pay £25.99 when I was only paying £16.99 before.

The helpful guy on the phone at EE offered me what he called a 'super SIM plan' which contains the following:

Minutes: 2000 and free calls to 08 numbers
Texts: Unlimited
Data: 5GB (4G)

The Pizza Express 241 and Orange Wednesday's as well.

First 6 months are £9.99 and the second six months are £19.99 averaging at £14.99 a month (no redemption's etc). Total: £179.88.

For me, this is a great deal as I was looking at 3's £15/month deal but of course 3's 4G coverage still isn't as good as EE's.

I asked if this was available in store but the EE CS agent wasn't sure (anyone to confirm?). I couldn't see it online.

The new SIM is getting dispatched to me this week and it is transferring over my old number automatically.

This might not be for everyone, but I was averaging 3GB's a month and that will only increase with better speeds.

Hopefully this is helpful to anyone moving onto a 4G plan.

If anyone has any questions, or anything I have missed out, I will add them here

I've heard that 3's 3G coverage is excellent and achieves speeds closer to 4G!

I'm not aware of the speeds but it is true about there 3G coverage, it is getting better and even there 4G is good, but didn't cover some needed areas (for me at least). As I say, I did consider them asthe plan they offer was £11 cheaper than EE's on there site but as I got it the same it made sense to stick with EE (and you get Orange Wednesdays which is useful to me)

Not an expert but it sounds expensive compared to the £500 all in deal after topcashback (paid) Igot with EE for 2 years 4gb unlimited calls and texts including a 16gb iPhone 5C. If one wanted the iPhone could be sold new/sealed for £350-400 leaving the 2 year deal effectively for £100?

This was a deal I got from this site so thanks HUKD and so surprised the TCB came back as it was unexpected!

That sounds like a great deal, but I assume that isn't on now? Plus I think you do well to get £400 when the unit is £469 from Apple themselves but eitherway, this is a current deal.

There will also be a lot of people not wanting to be tied down to a 24 month, having to sell a phone and relying on TCB to pay in order to get a similar price.
Edited by: "carsick77" 30th Aug 2014

People will pay over the Apple price even! The TCB was only £65 so even without a better deal. I believe it was back on very recently but £2pm more and a 32gb iPhone. I would say worth it to get effectively the same for a quarter of the price (2yr approx £100 vs 1yr approx £180).

Hope I have helped.

Rang sales team twice but no luck. Thanks anyway.

Just to confirm, I found the deal you were referring too: hotukdeals.com/dea…001 (unless I'm mistaken?)

That is for any 2gb/month which (at least for me) is no good as I average just under 3gb/month so it isn't really comparable to my deal as mine is for heavy data users... however I agree it is a good deal.

Sorry to hear that prince, are you a new customer? On Orange/T-Mobile?

That is a good deal! Although 9GB's would be over kill for me!

In-store deals are specific to store, if its a under-performing store you'll find the store to have a very good offer.
Telephone sales seems to be mainly for upgrades/renewals.

That does sound good, but all I could get them to offer was the advertised £22.99/4GB sim deal for £19.99/m with no initial discount :-(

Yep I got this deal when I called up to renew/negotiate new contract and can confirm the 9gb deal too. It's a great deal, you can still get cheaper at giff gaff but I need my phone for work and pleasure, anything goes wrong I can ring up and query, not possible on giff gaff.
Hot from me

If you break contract in first 6 months to upgrade with EE it's £50, after that it's free.

Could I get this deal bringing my number from vodapoo on iPhone?

Could I get this bringing my number from Vodafone on a iPhone??

I'm on the £23 a month O2 refresh plan, which is unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 5gb of 4G data
I get 30% off this via O2 Open, which is easy enough to get access to, making it just under £16 a month.

Yes, O2's 4G coverage isn't as good as EE and you have to have a subsidised phone (sell it on ebay for a profit?) but it's a decent alternative for those that can access O2 Open.

This has been available for a short while, it's known as their 'super sim' deal.

Also, I got this over the phone

Do you find that your data speeds are slower during 'peak' times/daytime?

You could use an app called speedtest to confirm.

Sometimes Maybe the Speedtest shows slower data transfers but the phone never fails to deliver smooth/fast connections - in my view, this double speed thing does deliver

Before I was on T-Mobile, I was with o2 and their 3G was terrible in comparison. As you say, I would prefer smooth and constant to in and out of signal with up and down speeds

Some people are getting confused information from EE about these sim deals so I'll give it a go explaining it better.

EE offer lots of sim only contracts, but only 2 of them are available as 'super-sim' deals.
These are the 2gb and 4 gb data ones at £19.99 and £22.99 respectively.
Taking them as super sims gives you the following extras:
1. Half price for first 6 months, full price for next 6 months
2. You can upgrade to another offer after first 6 months without penalty
3. Extra 5gb per month data bundle added for duration of contract. This makes the 7gb and 9gb deals
4. Free 0800 number bundle added for duration
5. The super sim deals are excluded from the add £3 month to turn into 30 day deals.
6. 2000 mins, unlimited texts. ( I think)

So it works out £15/ month over 12 months for a 7gb (4G) sim. Upgradeable from a normal contract sim.
I believe it is also excluded from loyalty schemes

Just a footnote, I was offered this I store today at Milton Keynes shopping centre

Were you an existing EE/Orange/T-Mobile customer?

Original Poster

my SIM has come through for this, double checked with agent and he knew all about the deal so they must be offering this/similar to a lot of customers.

Just walking out of the EE store in Surbiton being told to call 150 as they don't do upgrades :s

Is 'Super SIM' only for existing customers? I'm struggling to find anything on their website. Also, what's their stance on tethering?

As quoted in the title and description, it is an over the phone offer. We believe it is for those looking to migrate from other networks as well as those moving from Orange/T-Mobile.

Tethering is all OK, which I do now and then on train journeys
