EE 4g Mini Mifi Osprey 2 with 6gb for 90days £29.99 at Argos

99
Found 28th Oct 2015
Normally £50 at PC World and Argos but now reduced to £29.99.

There's conflicting reports of whether the 6gb lasts 30 days or 90 days. I suspect it will be 90 days which has a value of about £15. So you're paying £15 for the Mifi which can be unlocked for a quid.

Seem to be plenty of stock locally to me too.

Why cold? Great find op
I got this from Amazon on a lightning deal, great little Mifi, especially when coupled with EE's 100gb SIM offers (there's one running at the minute). Can confirm that the original 6gb lasts 90 days.
Can you unlock these?
hot
are these powerful enough to run PS Vita or PS4 gaming or Now TV from???

Great deal op, many thanks.

Just seen this is eligible for the 500mb/month for 1 year deal launched today, so makes this even better. The T&C are on this page shop.ee.co.uk/bro…ifi

You have to buy direct from ee to get that

He means does the mifi have sufficient throughput to support PS4 gaming, Vita gaming or NOWTV streams.

The T&C don't say anything about having to buy it through the EE shop to be eligible. Also you don't have to topup £10 like with the phones, just register the data sim it comes with.
my current ee payg data sim expires in 2 months can I activate this then?
also does this have 5ghz channels?
thanks.

just asking if it is possible to use these to stream NowTV or even PlayStation gaming rather than conventional broadband??

you can easily stream now TV, Amazon prime video, YouTube or ps4 online gaming. But be warned 6gb is not enough for these needs. You need 100gb per month to enjoy it.

Can you unlock these?

Yes you can
Unlocking code is 99p on ebay
I have done one already so 100% sure

When you are charging it does 75% led flashes all the time? When fully charged 4 leds should be solid. But from time to time flashes non stop...
here's a tough question...

Does anyone know if you can get this with an EE plus free or cheaper Spotify or Deezer deal ?
superb find
Hot and a tidy little unit

This seems like the better deal. £10 cheaper, 14GB more data but only valid for 1 month. Unlocked. The only downside I can see is that battery life might be worse.

Mine does that it's normal, when charging the 4th led never lights solid
Hot from me.

thank you Crapple....is the 6gb enough for the others though...I.e could I watch a footy match via Now TV with it??
6gb is absolutely nothing for gaming and streaming. You could easily use it in a day.
goes nicely with the 100GB EE data SIM for £10 here:

Is the 90 days from time of purchase or time of first use? Could I buy this then save it for a few months before using it?
is this just a one off payment, not a monthly contract?

I cancelled this one and went for the EE Osprey, Osprey easy to unlock for 99p and don't have to go through cancelling contract etc, also the cpw one could end up costing £40 due to the 30 days cancelation notice etc no one has confirmed yet if they have only paid £20 and no further changes etc.
Apologies for my ignorance.

Would this device be good for taking with you on really long car journeys??

Thanks
I prefer to get it without a contract so you're not tied in and yes you can take it on a long car journey or abroad once it's unlocked

That sounds good. (I was really looking for a reason to justify buying this as I can't see it being used elsewhere!!!)

There's probably an easier way but that's what I do - found an old unlocked Vodafone handset in the back of a drawer
Any recommendations on plans after the 6GB has been used?

See post 26 - register for the EE Christmas SIM, which comes with 100GB data per month for two months for the princely sum of £10 (which you also get to use as credit after the 2 months are up if you defer it). You can register for 2 SIMs per household, so that's effectively 4 months of 100GB plus £20 of PAYG data for £20
