I've never used a mobile wifi and I'm not sure what there like but this is the cheapest I've seen one. I'm not sure if this deal is in store. The "EE Osprey Pay As You Go Mobile WiFi" is £34.99

WiFi Device
1 month rolling contract
Recomended tariff: 15 GB of data - £20 per month
4G

HEAT!

Very cheap way to get the 4G you need and a lot of data ;-)

Better deal at cpw - 25gb for £30 30 day rolling contract and no fee - quidco (or tcb I forget) tracks too.

The unit alone goes for £25 on eBay so you could potentially buy a stack of them and end up paying roughly £10/m (after eBay fees) for £25GB of mobile data...
Interesting...

That is cheeky!
How are the speeds on the Osprey, have you streamed or watched
any movies via it yet?

I'd report them for that!
If their fine-print says they need 30 days notice, you should be able give notice as soon as you get it.

I've used mine - much better than my 4g phone, though direct comparison isn't poss as the phone was on 3. What is worth mentioning is even when the osprey reports only one bar of 4g it's still good enough to stream netflix - on 3 anything less than 3 bars on the phone and it was useless.

Cancelled mine after 2 days with 30 day contract. paid 99p to get it unlocked.

Cheers for that craig, for the money, got to be worth a go to see if the 4g reception
can get any better out in the sticks!

I'm moving house and won't have internet for a month or two. Is this my best bet for streaming movies etc? I guess I won't be download any steam games any time soon

Surely you would be allowed to take the £10 a month tariff, the £20 one is only the recommended one - ( if you were only buying it to get it unlocked for a three sim ) so the total outlay would only be £19.99. £9.99 plus £10 rolling contract.

I just re-read the details. You can do what I said - £19.99 then put a three sim into it for taking abroad. If I was the poster , I'd repost at the cheaper price.

Have you got a link for that unlock please?

so you only have to pay £10 when you purchase it. You don't have to pay anything at purchase time for the data

Thank you

Can someone please confirm that I only have to pay £9.99 in store.

Would this work on 'all you can eat' three data using a 30 day contract?
Or would it be seen as tethering?

I'm thinking it won't? But I'm not an expert.
Based on this information:

support.three.co.uk/SRV…124,Case=obj(3722)

I think it will on a preloaded. As long as there is no initial sign up this is the best deal I've ever seen on an unlock able mifi.

Various preloaded from 3.99 at currys. Anyone know which size SIM it takes?

I bought one of these, thought I should give an informed update.

Unit was £9.99. Contract was £30/m for 25gb
Billing started on 6th May, bringing my first month to 6th June.

Called up yesterday to cancel (30 day notice), meaning final bill date will end on 13th June. I will be charged 1 month at £30, then 7 days worth to bring me up to date (so roughly £7.50). I will be given an equivalent amount of data too, so roughly 6GB.

The EE data plan is actually pretty good. There is an automatic cap on the data, and if you hit your limit it takes you to the EE page where you can purchase a top up if required.

Other random questions:
Reception/speed is fantastic. Equivalent to my old 10mbps line broadband line.
It takes a standard (old, large) sized SIM card? I'll check when I get home.
The battery life is great, I coincidentally ran out of data on my phone last week, so I've been keeping the Osprey in my rucksack and it works fine all day.

Bought mine this morning, paid £9.99 in store and setup direct debit for £10, phoned EE and gave 30 days notice over the phone straight away no problems and have it unlocked and connected on Vodafone 5 hours later after a 99p code from a ebay seller from Swindon (who managed 34 mins from payment to code!).

Thank you OP.

Does anyone know if I cancel the contract within 2 days (for example) would I still need to pay 30 days bill (30 days notice) or would it count as '7/14 day cooling off period cancellation', thus only paying for the one/two days the account was active?

They don't offer change of mind policy in stores(unless you want to return device) so you need to pay 30 days bill/notice.

Just bought from Currys in store for £9.99. Chose 1GB data for £10, called EE straight away giving 30 days notice to cancel. Currently using 5GB for £8 on Three (the dongle has now keep disconnecting after 2 years of use), ordered unlock code from ebay and now will use my Three broadband Sim on new 4G osprey wifi......ohh lalaaaaa
Edited by: "thelordofuk" 24th May 2015

Ohhh....just to mention, just got it unlocked via 99p unlock code, inserted Three sim card, and it took all the settings by itself, I didn't have to tune the setting up.....I am surprised how easy it was and the whole thing cost me only £21.....I am over the mooooon....

Unlocked mine on ebay for 99p. Code received within a few hours Job done.
