EE SIMO Retention deal £5/m unlimited mins/texts and 1GB dats (£60/yr)

LocalFound 6th Mar
Been on the phone to EE as the contract on one of my shared sim only numbers costing £12/m just completed. Retention offered me unlimited mins/texts and 1GB data for £5 per month which i've happily accepted.

The new 1GB plan comes is normally £14 per month built in with £9 loyalty.

This may be useful for anyone with a multiple plan where the new data gifting option can be used to move data between the numbers. I've a SIMO plan with 30GB data and plan to use the option to move data to the number with 1GB plan.

Was that on the Max plan or their regular 4G?

And if the Max plan, did you go through Retentions? If it's not, don't worry about it
How do I be on EE long enough on a PayG sim to qualify for these deals?

This was on the standard 4GEE (capped at 60 Mbps). EE no longer offer the Max speeds on SIM only plans. To get Max speed on the new SIM only plans, you need to pay £2 per month to get the add on called 'Go faster'

You can get this deal as soon as you activate your Pay as you go Sim

Should be able to* .... I got a similar deal by the sales member literally asking me to buy a 99p payas you go sim from tesco and activating it

Ouch:

Go Further – so customers can use their call, text and data allowances in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand for £10 per month*

*minimum six month term applies

..plus the stated £2 for faster speeds. I'm paying £12 now as it is with that plus 4GB data and free minutes and texts!

Unless they can throw in that Go Further on any future deals, I'm better off continuing rolling over on what I have now.

Agree. I've 2 SIM only Max plans from the ones launched in 2017 which includes the Max speed and roaming in the 5 additional countries and i've no intention of switching.
I just called and they refuse to give me that

They said they can only provide the ones on the website.

You should call again and speak with different person. My friend gets 16gb for £7 as a retention deal /loyalty discount.

I got the OPs deal yesterday. My e2save 7gb deal was ending and without the lure of cashback there was no way I was continuing to pay £16.99 pm.
Never really used the data, so unlimited minutes and texts and a token amt of data for a fiver will easily suffice.

How did they get that? They won't give me better than 4GB for £9/m, have they been a customer for a long time?

You are right, I got it this time, and for my wife’s number 2gb for 7/m
Its all hit and miss with these retention plans... depends on who u speak to and if your also a BB customer...
I got offered 1GB at £6pm or 4GB on £8 pm which i have taken
Easiet way to get the best deals is to actually go through with getting a pac code from them. A few hours later you'll get a call from the "real" retentions team where they're desperate to keep you on. I did this today with every intention of switching, the first person I spoke to couldn't offer me anything. I didn't even have to try when they called me back.

Got the £16 - 25gb data unlimited data package. I'm sure if I haggled I could have probably got it down by a few quid but I'm pretty happy with the deal. It's also worth noting that I'm actually only 6 months into my contract but going through retentions I didn't even get charged a fee to out my old contract.

Not had any luck with that myself, altho seeing someone mentioning the £10 6gb option I might try ringing them back myself before I end up on Virgin or BT.
I’m normally quite good at negiotiating however I came up Blank with EE, i took out 2 of the mobiles 7gb data plan with cashback which is in its last month, retention’s wouldn’t offer me anything good.
gave my pac to plusnet yesterday so will be leaving today on one sim, the other sim I’ll be transferring tomorrow
I'm considering a move away from EE. The whole price plan rise in line with retail price inflation, mid contract, is annoying me. I haven't researched the competition yet. They are probably all at it.
As far as I'm concerned, the price plan you sign up for, should be the price you pay for the duration of the contract. Yes,. I know it's in their terms and conditions.
i tried to get a deal with EE last renewal and only got a deal when i found a better one from three, which EE matched but i had to pay £1 more. retentions was not so keen to keep me as a customer, which is odd as although i had unlimited minutes and 1GB data at the time, i did not use that many minutes or data so statistically speaking, i was a good customer to keep.

i don't think they have a strong retentions campaign at the moment as i guess they may have enough customers already and so not too worried yet about losing customers.

i may move away from them as they are no longer the best value for money.

Same situation here - even quoting all the other Three, BT and Virgin deals they wont budge and offer inferior deals. I know we were lucky with that deal last year but I still think EE could make more effort to keep us

With EE, i think it is always easier if you start off the conversation by asking for a PAC code instead of asking for upgrade offers. If you're not offered a good deal i'd proceed and get a PAC code. Once a code has been generated it will prompt an outbound call from EE and the team making contact will have move leverage to give you a better offer. You should expect a call on the same day or day after.

I’ve just got 2 sims via argos for plusnet 3.5gb data unlimited calls/texts for £8pm with £20 Argos voucher, I’d don’t need 3.5g but will negiotiate it down next month, hopefully to £5 for 2.25gb which compares to the uswitch ID mobile deal.
1GB of data in this day and age, is a bloody joke tbh.

Some people don’t need much data, there’s no point in paying for more data if you do not use it.
just like some people will defend paying over £50 per month for an iPhone, its each to their own.
As BT, EE and Plusnet are looking to merge some operations, I wonder if the staff at EE don't care too much about keeping customers as their jobs may be at risk?

I hope BT ditch their overseas call centres and use the UK ones but I don't suppose they will

that was offered after I had asked for PAC code and called them up a few days before the PAC code ran out as I wanted to see if anyone would call before I actually left. they did not care if i left as no one called to make an offer after they gave me the PAC code. this is unusual as in previous years they would call you a week after you have got your PAC code to see if they can offer you anything better so you would stay. did not happen this time round.
Took a PAYG SIM out and tried online chat, who put me through to sales, best they could offer me was £10 for 1GB, I would certainly take out another line for £5/month but not at £10 when all I really want, is the ability to share the data from my main plan tbh.

What's the secret, call retentions on 150, get a PAC and play the waiting game?

Thanks.

They have said the same to me. I have been on the e2save 7gb cashback deal and am not going to be paying £16.99 pm! I have spoken to 3 different people today and a supervisor and they all said 4gb for £9 was the best they can do Still not too bad I guess, only offer that gets close is Virgin media 6gb for £10. Anyone know any better deals?

If you already have a plan, i'd contact sales team and try to take out an additional line as a shared sim user. The shared plans usually cost £13, but i've been offered the plan for £9 and some have them for £5.

I do currently have a plan and have tried, the best they offered was the extra line, the same as on their website.

It turns out that the £13 sharer lines aren't available anymore (the ones that share the data allowance) but now you have to take an additional line out and jump through the hoops of gifting data.

I might try calling retentions today and asking for the PAC for the PAYG number I got, it can't hurt, right?
They wouldn't do this for £5 for me best was £6.
They also would only do the 4GB for £12.
They can stuff it went to BT.

Also quite awkward on phone, wouldn't lower price to those I just listed until I quoted some competitor offers.

There we go thigh it's a buyer's market thankfully.
Thanks OP. Had a couple of days left on the 7GB mobiles.co.uk cashback SIM I had last year and not really a huge data user. Got this 1GB deal with ultd calls/texts for £5 p/m.

Use their online live chat and quote the Virgin 1GB £4 deal. They should offer you £5 for this deal, £7 for 2GB or £8.99 for 4GB. All come with unlimited texts and calls
The deals are rubbish thos year on sim only. No good deals on cashback sites and the plan for 7gb was a max plan where now they dont do max plans for soms only deals anymore. Best the offered me was 40gb for £35 with 6 month at half price and my kids for 4£ each a month and I would have to gift the data to them. Got PAC but never get a phonecall from them. Might move.on a pay a bit more with BT and see how they are.
