EE 'Super SIM' retention deal - Unld mins/text and 5GB of 4G data - £11 p/m, 6 month contract via Orange retentions

Phoned up Orange to cancel my contract, told them I knew I could get a better deal online and could get cashback etc online too, and that I wanted to switch to 4G anyway.

The chap offered me a 6 month contract called Super SIM at half price, which works out at £11 per month. Induces unlimited calls, texts and 5GB of 4G data as the SIM is on EE.

If you don't cancel/call after 6 months, it goes up to the online price at £21.99.

Thought this was a cracking deal for those coming to the end of their contract on either Orange, T-Mobile or EE, and don't want to be tied in for too long, or could perhaps get an even better deal after 6 months!

Confirmed - 12 months contract. No option to cancel/leave after 6 months. Upgrade option, however, is available after 6 months.

Is it six month contract? I was offered a similar product couple of weeks ago, but they said it was a 12 month contract, with the ability to change the contract after six months, not able to cancel though

I was under the impression this was 12 month contract but you get the option to switch after 6 months, the contract doesn't expire until after 12 months

I got the same deal a week back. I think we have to upgrade or switch after 6 month.

Not sure whether to go for this or the £15 all you can eat data with 3

You got through to Customer Services? I tried phoning three times only to be kept on hold for over 45 mins on each occasion before having to give up. Instead I went into local EE shop... only to be told I would need to phone customers services. They offered me one of the shop phones to do so, but gave up after another 1/2 hour listening to their poorly recorded hold music. Have been with Orange since they set up, last contract set up in days before they became EE. There is no way I will be staying with them... (yes I know very CSB but need to vent.)

Am glad it wasn't just me who thought their hold music was awful quality! Yesterday i tried 3 times and on my 4th attempt, managed to get through to cancellations after only 12 mins! They couldn't match the O2 simo deal at £10 pm which for me is ideal.

Could you provide a retention number please? my *free* contract which was a misprice last year (T-Mobile) and running out next month! Cheers

In answer to some of the questions around 6 months, I thought being able to cancel after that period was too good to be true, so I asked the guy to confirm.

He said that in layman's terms it was a 6 month contract that I could cancel or upgrade after that time. I asked again later in the call whether I could definitely cancel after 6 months and he said yes, and that he has confirmed this with his supervisor as people had been asking.

I have asked for this to be confirmed on my account and in writing, so as far as I am concerned it's pretty concrete as a deal unless I read otherwise.

I've got the super sim deal but mine is unlimited calls/text and 9gb data for £11.50 for 6 months then £22.99 for the remaining 6 months. mine includes double speed 4G so I get speeds around 50mb

Either way, you can still change to another supersim deal after 6 months, they seem to have the offer changing each month it seems

Just phoned them and they have confirm the deal.

I got a unlimited min & txt, 9gb 4g data from EE £11.50
That's why I believe this offer is cold

With the 9GB deal, can you cancel after 6 months? Or are you then tied in at full price for the remaining 6 months?

Heat just for getting through to customer services

+i just called them u cannot cancel after months it goes up 21.99

Did you get the 1p a month sim last year if so phone up as i was told it does not end after 12 months but the discount will apply as long as you stay with them after the 12 month contract.

I am on EE, and my contract has just run out, but I transferred originally from T-mobile, not orange. Reckon I would still get this? Can someone confirm you can definitely cancel after 6 months?

If you use allot go with 3.
If you use little and want fast internet choose EE

i got this last week, SIM only, 6 months half price, £5 off a month for being an existing customer.

I was thinking of getting the Virgin unlimited SIM deal, they use EE network, not sure how good it is, I don't need 4G.

u guys beware . there is no 6 months contract at EE. the first 6 months may be half price , but the remaining months are £21.99 , thus with 6 months remaining, you would have to buy out at £ £132 to end early. total for year is just under £200.

the retention team never ever gives a 6 months contract for u to leave at 6 months .. it is. a 12 months contract unless u have email or written proof.

u can in deed upgrade at month 6 but beware of buyout charge when u call as there will be no notes to indicate a 6 moths contract but will be notes ob 6 months half price line rental.....

I work for EE.

This is a 12 month contract, this super sim has been around for 4 months now

Available to all customers who are due an upgrade.

After 6 months you cannot cancel, but you are eligible for an upgrade again.

Spoke to EE, got straight through. Can confirm the deal however it is definitely a 12 month contract, half price for the first 6 months!

I went for the Super SIM a while back when it was offered and got fobbed off about not being able to upgrade/change mid billing cycle.
When I phoned back at the end of my cycle, was told Super SIM deal finished.
How come you say it's still on?
My upgrade date is from 16th Oct. What shouls I ask for?

I woke for EE High Street Kensington:

Only upgrading customers are eligible for this deal. It's a 12 month sim only!!! 6months half price and 6 months £21.99. You can upgrade for free after 6 months. 080 numbers included. You cannot simply cancel after 6 months.

Im on the same train. I had 1p a month sim but the glitch is coming to the end soon. You sure they will keep charging me only 1p as long as I stay with them?
That would be the best deal until I die

hot from me. I got the the same contract for 12 months moving from t mobile to ee but for 15 pounds a month.

So, OP is saying you must have an Orange contract, still pay over the odds for what you're getting, and then get charged even more the next 6 months. Yeah. Amazing.

Who does unlimited minutes and texts for under £11?

Do you have to have been an Orange customer? Seems to me that after six months you are staying anyone, so given EE knows this - do they only offer crappy 'upgrade' deals? If you upgrade after 6 months are you then tied in for 18-24 months more?

Pandeabear, you been had myfriend! Lol, good ol customer service operators blagging their way.

Good job I got a Call record option on my Note3 so every call is recorded for evidence.

Didn't offer me this so I've left them. Awful customer service though.

Upgrades are a joke. Was on hold waiting to speak to upgrades for ~30 mins, ~1hr and ~45 minutes a few days ago (first two calls conveniently dropped when I heard a new dial tone). Thankfully I put earphones into the phone to shut off the awful music they keep looping and got on with some work on the PC until my call actually got put through. Told them where to put their meagre offers and got my PAC!

And I'd definitely record my calls for "monitoring and training purposes" as telephone CS are not always as honest as they make out. Just let them know at the start of the call.

Thanks, didn't know about that. Looks interesting, will give it a try. Glad I had other stuff to get on with but still pretty pathetic!

EE is the worst network ever for customer service. Never Again!

Your 'recommendation' makes no sense.

I've seen no real evidence that data is any faster on EE than 3.
If anything, loads of people I know on EE are always complaining about how slow it has become.
