I use Wemo devices, so I can't really vouch for how well these work, but if they do what they say it's quite a good price compared to Wemo.

Sounds good - will give it a go.

I just received one of these and I'm also a Wemo user. Compared to a Wemo this Efergy is well built and has energy usage info but no integration with IFTTT. Much better than the Trendnet THA-101 though.

Would I be able to use this with an adapter here in Spain?

Not if the Uk leaves the EU. The Boris convention will require All such devices be disconnected.

Any access from PC / Web?

Anyone know of a device like this but doesnt call home to the mother ship
I want access via an app for the lan only with no callhomes

What is this how to use and can this work with powering off or switching off devices or hot water heating light switch tap

Surely most things can be switched off at the plug manually, except fridge, freezer, router. A hard drive TV recorder will update over night so probably leave that on too. Switching lights on and off while you are away is pointless if the curtains are always open or closed. Where else would you use it?

In my living room, I have the lamp and most of my AV rack (not the Tivo or landline phone tho) on remote plugs.

Not this type though. Mine are on IR remote plugs, so I can control them from a Logitech multi-remote. Like everything else in the room. Why? So I don't have to haul my 4rSe off the sofa to switch them on an off. aka - sheer laziness.

I bought into the LightwaveRF ecosystem and it has been an massive disappointment. Control requests have been slow, unreliable, the software flawed and the timers seem to have a mind of their own. For the cost, I think it is garbage.

Is anyone able to compare the Lightwave stuff to this or any other brand that might be better?

Any device that's plugged into a wall SOCKET! (probably not your hot water which has a wall switch no wall socket plug)

Lidl sells something similar(silvercrest brand) for £19.99 a few times a year

I bought a few of them, good job

You have an electric TAP?

Of course, doesn't everyone? turn on the spigot and electrons flow ...

I use Energenie Remote sockets - excellent value at 3 sockets fot £24. You need to buy a hub as well for internet access though...

I buy the wivo WiFi switch at bangood alot cheaper £11.30

I have one of these that I bought last year to control the timer on my car charger overnight (economy 7 and all that) while waiting for the proper drive way solution. Worked fine and also records usage quite well but it's not integrated with any external system (outside the app) and cannot be controlled with any open protocols.

It now sits in my living room controlling a hard to reach floor lamp.

Not as crazy as it sounds. I have a Zip Hydrotap. You'll never go back not that I'd want to be controlling it remotely...

Android app is buggy on my phone, but when it works does the job fine.
Doesn't pick up certain low loads (e.g. some phone chargers even when actively charging).
Gets quite warm even when the device is turned off.
Doesn't support economy 7 dual prices for the cost totals.
Good though and I'd buy another, at least it's not like the devices with LCD displays that you can't read or have to stand next to your plug socket to monitor.

£24.95 now...

In the shed to power the external lights and pumps and stuff.

I use mine for Switching the electric blanket on from miles away, also the heating, which I had to adapt to a plug powered supply and a slow cooker

They are great

I have seen those in offices - they are NOT cheap!

Stupidly bought this. It's a heap of trash. Doesn't connect. The app is useless. I work in IT so I'm not a technophobe. Heaven help people with basic set up knowledge. Live and learn.

Well I had it set up in 2 minutes, app works perfectly, took no technical knowledge, no problem with connection so far.

So either yours is faulty or there's something about your wifi setup that the plug doesn't like. I've got a standard EE router and it just worked.

Back to Amazon for refund. This will teach me, didn't really require one anyway. HUKD lured me in, got to stop buying things not needed. lolz

Back on at £20

Good find
However it only works when the app is connected in the same wifi network ie won't work when on a mobile network away from home
