Sharm El Sheikh is renowned for its all-singing, all-dancing hotels. But this one is cut from a different cloth. Because it’s smaller and cosier both in looks and atmosphere, it sits right at the more intimate end of the Sharm spectrum.

Take the main terrace. With one end opening to the sandy beach, it doesn’t spread its wares far and wide. Instead, it keeps things simple, with two split-level lagoon pools ringed by bougainvillea-draped terraces, sunloungers and parasols.

As for facilities, you’ve got a Roman-style indoor pool, tennis and a nice line in evening entertainment - cue a pub-themed bar that hosts live music most nights. Regular Egyptian folklore shows add spice.

In terms of location, the hotel is a two-minute walk from Old Sharm - and Naama Bay is a short bus or taxi ride away. What’s more, the hotel runs free boats to and from an offshore coral reef when you’re up for some snorkelling.

Like the rest of the interiors, the bedrooms are comfortably done out without being OTT. They’re finished in soft creams with pale-wood furnishings and marble floors. Plus, they all come with balconies or terraces furnished with wicker patio sets.

About 250 miles

About 250 miles

250 miles? That's a pharoah way ("Far Old Way" - geddit? I'll get my coat)

My two daughters were there in July and they paid 34 quid for a return trip from Sharm to pyramids on the coach which was 6 hours each way, entry to the Egyptian Museum and a trip on the nile which included lunch plus entry in to one on the smaller pyramids and trip to perfume factory. They could have gone into the great pyramid for 10 GBP. You can fly for over a 100 GBP ,45 min approx on plane. Cheap enough for a good day out.

Is the war over?

Thanks

Don't they have trains in Egypt?

Thanks

Yes they have trains in Egypt but not between Sharm and Cairo. Oh and by the way there isn't a war in Egypt - they had a revolution!

seems cheap

Dont forget to pack your Imodium

My wife flew to Egypt on a Concorde, saw the pyramids, rode a camel, went to the museum, and flew back again the same day. I had to drive to Heathrow twice. Those were the days.

You can do this cheaper? In may I can get a 5 star hotel all inclusive for 2 weeks Inc flights for 3 adults and 1 child for about 2K . I actually did it last year for £1700.00.

A friend of mine has just come back from the pyramids, he loved it! I'm looking for flights to Cairo and thought it would be cheap with the ongoing problems but still can't find flights much cheaper than £300 return.

Keep in mind they had a revolution and overthrew the president last year. Lots of political turbulence. Word is that it's fairly low risk for tourists, but there's still talk of armed rebellions and so forth even in this week's news and they're in the middle of a fuel crisis with people lining up at the pumps due to general disagreements and nobody getting along, so personally I'd rather book somewhere where there's less risk of waking up to "holiday cancelled due to more pesky locals causing trouble"
