Les Alanos (thanks) says "I also picked up 2 spare batteries and a charger: gearbest.com/act…tml they make a big difference, the OEM battery is not 900mAh (it's around 600mAh mislabeled), so the spares last about 50% longer."

Didn't need one at all, ordered
How queer, I got the code Eekenh9 from their email earlier last night - but the price without the code is £33.40! The price actually goes up with the code applied, to £33.90! Not sure if it's an error, might send Gearbest an email querying it - the codes I used on earlier Deals all seemed to work.

They aren't too shabby for the price tbh and come with a load of accessories. The sound is very quiet with the waterproof case on.
Sigh, not really getting anywhere with Live Chat. I had quite a few codes in the email I received last night (made a few Deals from them and they apply a reduction just fine) -

"Lomi
at 2:16, Apr 27:
This item is on promotion .
Lomi
at 2:17, Apr 27:
So cannot use the code."

What are GearBest like at applying codes retrospectively - ie bought and paid for something, not yet despatched, but subsequently discover that there is a 20% code off that I have not used. Are they normally receptive to contacting them and getting it applied and getting a refund of the difference?
Has anyone actually got one and uploaded some footage? i got an SJ4000 and the quality is awful on all settings and aspect ratios.

Doesn't hurt to ask of course, but from comments about Gearbest on here I wouldn't hold out much hope!
You might find that when it arrives it's just an Action Cam and not anything to do with Eken...

Might buy this one though, for use on my motorbike.

this link was posted last time i think

if can adjust contrast and saturation then i think it would look better than the gopro - if not then skin especially can look dodgy as well as very dark shadows

I'm led to believe that another battery fits and gives better performance, might be the SJCAM series?

The reviewer here mentions the batteries http://pevly.com/eken-h9-review/

"The weakest link of H9 when it comes to hardware components is without any doubt a battery. Eken H9 is powered by replaceable 3.7 Li-ion 1050 mAh 3.885 Wh battery. The key word here is replaceable.

Why? Because battery life is so poor that you will probably need few spare batteries and replace original one.

Battery is compatible with 900mah SJCAM batteries, which leads to a conclusion that 1050mah advertised is faked. Not only that it is fake, but the original battery proved to be significantly weaker compared to 900mah.

I tested out battery performance few times, and here is the average recording time I managed to get, with screen saver being turned on, WiFi off and other settings left on default.

1920 x 1080p 60 fps - around 45 minutes
1920 x 1080p 30 fps - around 83 min

Another keyword is inconsistent.

I inserted 900mah battery from SJCAM, as they are the same size. To my surprise, not only that the battery meter remained more stable, but I also got way better recording performance by using "weaker" battery on paper.
Results with 900mah battery

Recording time :

1920 x 1080p 60 fps - around 70 minutes (35 more compared to original battery)
1920 x 1080p 30 fps - around 120 min (40 minutes more than with original battery)

Now these are not perfect results, but certainly far more acceptable."

Looking at the packaging of this supposedly EKEN, there is no mention of EKEN that I can see. is this a generic action camera in the style of the EKEN camera that was reviewed? I know the one I ordered, over a month ago for a friend in the USA did not have anything related to EKEN on the product or packaging.
How many minutes can I record on to a 32GB card?

Cheers!
hot_top

How many minutes can I record on to a 32GB card?Cheers!

Not sure how the pevly review came up with those recording times, he doesn't seem to mention which MicroSD card he uses.

Class 10 is recommended - time is dependent on video setting (obviously ). There's a looping function, which you can turn off, where the camera will record 10 minute clips and overwrite the earliest clip when the microSD card is full.

A comment from the pevly review says "if you are recording in 4K be sure to stick with a 32gb max that is speed rated for 4K not the 10 class cards." *some do say the 4K option is pretty useless - guess it takes up loads of memory.

I'll try to see if there's any clear discussion on MicroSD cards, video settings and recording times.

How long does delivery take ?
Also are any of the cases any good for it?
I've got one of these cameras, picked it up from the European warehouse last time it was around £33. They're currently around £38 from their European warehouse, it means much quicker delivery and no chance of VAT + handling charges.

I also picked up 2 spare batteries and a charger: gearbest.com/act…tml they make a big difference, the OEM battery is not 900mAh (it's around 600mAh mislabeled), so the spares last about 50% longer.

I've tested it on my motorbike and underwater, I'm really impressed. It's not a state of the art 4k camera, but a very capable cheap and cheerful 1080p 30/60fps. There's a helpful Facebook group with other owners if you fancy tinkering with the firmware too. https://www.facebook.com/groups/EKENusergroup/

Get a decent microSD card (class 10+ ideally), if the camera doesn't like it it will limit the resolutions you can record in.

Also mine came with a UK, not EU, plug for charging.

Thanks Les. All the Europe ones appear to be out of stock
Does it support automatic stabilizer? I saw other offer which has two batteries included, but how about this one? Thanks

Cheers lightrider, updated the price - goes in my basket at £32.46 though? oO

The email-advertised code (Post #5) still doesn't work, but I've given up on that!

Taken the plunge £42 for the camera, extra batteries and a case!
Does anyone know if this one is any better or just as good? http://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_258676.html

Spec's are higher (so they claim) and can be had from another well known Chinese site (not sure if link allowed on here) for $37 with discount code (about £26)

Just had a look at the Banggood site and they have an EU direct 50% off sale - all the items I look at are actually 50% more than the regular prices..or at least prices I've seen before or on deal sites

They use the similar tactics at Gearbest.

Do you really have to send an item you purchased in the EU back to China? That sounds like something they (Gearbest) want you to do rather than being part of EU consumer law etc..?

Thanks OP. Looking for a cheap replacement for my GoPro so not too sad if it's lost! Got the extra batteries as well!
