Been waiting for this to be available.

This is a pre-order. Stock will be ready for dispatch in 7 days. Shipped from UK so no customs.

And just to get it out of the way, I will compare it to the Nexus 7:

Pros:
Price - Obviously the biggest advantage, well over £100 less.
Micro sd slot - A major con for the nexus 7 for a lot of people.
USB and mini -hdmi port - No need for adapters

Cons:
Battery life - 3,000mAh battery compared to the Nexus 7's 4,325mAh so obviously will not be as good
Lower resolution - note that I say lower not low. A great resolution for the price but not as good as the Nexus 7.
Only 4gb internal storage
No Jelly Bean - I'm sure a rom will be available eventually
No Bluetooth
Quality build usually isn't the best with Chinese tablets

I have to admit I bum Apple and have been debating whether or not to invest in an iPad, but for this price I might bite! Voted hot.

I have the Eken T01 which i believe this is the replacement of it appears to be the exact same, the specs are near identical ICS 512mb ram the only difference i see is the CPU, after loads of messing i managed to root it so that can be done but its not for the faint heated or the noob. My reason for posting is to tell you just what rubbish they are 512mb of ram is no where near enough and i find the 01 struggles to run its very laggy and is frustrating to use, the worst part is the Capacitive Display its like having a resistive display with a sytuls you have to be forceful and near the black outer frame there's very little sensitivity and this is all the way round, all in all a pile of **** and i would avoid at all costs the build quality is very poor, where the SD card slides in the mechanism is very poor aswell. I bought this as a cheap tablet for my daughter to use and even she hated it and gave it me back, after messing for a little while its now on a shelf where it will stay, i have a Nexus and i know the difference in price is massive but there are other capable tablets for a little bit more money and they are always on here, you want one with 1gb of memory.

Capacitive displays aren't meant to be used with a stylus. That may be where you were going wrong!

All videos I have seen the screen response has been very good, both for this unit and the T01. I think you might have had a bad unit or you only ever used a stylus which would make it even worse as has been said above.

Oddly I've got an Eken T01 and find it OK. Yes it's not an iPad (I've got one) but it does all the basics. I agree that this looks like a T01 with a software front end interface update, and some hardware updates.
I think it'll be an OK tablet.

Has anyone used this company before?

I've used a fair few of these generic tablets over the last few years and whilst the price on this one is very good they are all beaten hands-down by the Nexus 7 which is a joy to use compared to anything else I've tried.

...and a ton dearer so not really a comparison.

Yes, I've used Futeko - based over in Manchester. With my Eken T01 I had a problem, it needed replacement. The swap out was handled without any problems. So for me, the experience was good.
UK based means no import "potential" duty......also a UK warranty.

I've used an Eken T01 so I guess this is slightly better. It's pretty good for it's price. At this price, it's highly recommended. If it's your first tablet, I'd buy this over a Nexus 7. Use it for a while, just what's it's all about. Can play HD 1080p movies with 4hr run time and appears to have the same connections - which means, purchase a mini HDMI cable, and you've got yourself a very versatile movie player. Screen is not great, but usable - tbh I think people expect too much nowadays.

I think anyone will be spoiling their kid with something over £100. This jsut about goes into that nice price range. Save on this and wait for a better tablet. The surface and a fleet of other tabs are coming out, so can't wait to see what's that about.

The Nexus 7 is a budget device and, as I said, beats the existing generic/budget models with ease. I did say "whilst the price on this one is very good" which it is so could be worth it despite the likely failings. You pays your money etc

does futeko take returns if the item isn't faulty but just not suitable for my use?

Also used Futeko. Very good replacing a tablet with 1 dead pixel although they changed the rules on that shortly after

So you are voting it cold based on the performance of a different model from the same company?

Intriguing username though...

Received ours (well, my sons) today. Anyone else actually bought it?

Yes. For those that bought it, be sure to change your launcher if some of your gapps (play store, talk etc.) aren't appearing in your app drawer.

You having any wifi issues after the tablet has gone into sleep? ie only holds for 5 seconds?

Original Poster

Yes, I think we're both already discussing it on the Futeko forums!

How about HDMI issues. Can't get mine to work, no signal on the TV

Just gone to try. Weird, the socket is neither full size hdmi or the mini one for my phone! What connector is it ????

According to the manual it uses mini hdmi. Are you sure it's not a micro hdmi slot your phone has?

OK, that explains that then :). Not buying one to check it does not work though!

OK, managed to fix the HDMI issue. Newest (unofficial) version of the firmware resolved it. I'd recommend NOT downgrading to the firmware on the futeko website if you like HDMI !

Got mine last week. Present for my son.
I've got to say for £58 it's a real bargain. Can't fault it.

Just got one of these - thanks for the heads up on the deal - really can't fault the tablet, especially for the sub £60 price tag.

Thinking of getting one of these for an older relative purely for web surfing. How are those who bought it getting on with it now? Recommended?

Edit: would be used as is out of the box ie no rooting etc

Great device for the money. Sometimes, though, after coming out of standby it fails to re-connect to wifi. A reboot fixes, so its not a huge issue. Overall for that sort of money its great!

Thanks for that Timbo, 1gb Ram would be preferable but I suppose for only web surfing it shouldn't matter too much.

Its the usual wifi issues I always seem to get with android stuff, and I use one of the fixer apps on the play store.

They are doing an Eken w80 with an 8inch screen on the same website (or coming soon)

Thanks, got him one of these and he is getting the hang of it

Hey! I ordered a tablet Eken w70 via internet. But I have 2 huge problems: first: the battery won´t charge! I am only able to use the tablet while connected to electricity because when I unplug it , it automaticly says "discharging " and "no battery, power off" and then it switches off in 2 seconds. What is the issue? can you please help me? And the second problem is that the sound and the micro don´t work either.. =S
Thanks

Hi there, Anyone else having wifi disconnection problem with this tablet. Mine seems to disconnect every so often and more often than not it won't reconnect. Thanks. Regards

My sons had a similar issue. Normally just a reboot does the trick. Also did yours cone with the fake windows 8 option?
