Electrek 7 LED Head Torch £1 in Poundland

35
Found 30th Dec 2014
So, roof's pooped so I needed to get into the loft - no electric up there - so I needed a torch. Lots of research done and found one for a tenner in the Argos. 7 LEDs and a headband that says 'Head Torch'. argos.co.uk/sta…htm

Happened to be passing the PoundLand and popped in for something else. Guess what I saw? A head torch! Like the Argos one, it has 7 LEDs. Unlike the Argos one, it doesn't say 'Head Torch' on the band. It's also
£9 cheaper.

Now I'm not saying they are similar but I will post a pic of each in the first post after this and you can draw your own conclusions...

BTW, I've used it and can confirm that it fits on my head and is a torch - so it ticks all those boxes!

Can't say it's the same thing. That would be wrong and bad. Clearly they are very different. Just look at those headbands and the... erm... the...

Someone help me out here!

The straps can be iffy, but they are great torches, you would expect it to be dimmer than a Big brother contestant, but they give off a nice light and are not unpleasant

£1 is a bargain.
Have some heat.

£8.00 you mean £9.00....and he had the cheek to put it in an argos bag...i think i tell him i dont like it, and have some thing else from Argos.. and i bought him a £20 bottle of teachers whisky.... my family take liberties....

print out copies of the page and use them as placemats!

Bought this month's ago and it's pretty decent for the money. No issues so far well chuffed.

For hours of fun, simply fasten one of these to your greyhound, lurcher or whippet, and let the hound loose around a playing field in urban areas. The alarm on some faces has to be seen to be believed.

A really useful thing to have at times. I payed £40 for mine it was for a certain make and for something a lot more specialised but at £1 this is worth it

Super.

Awesome find, we have one from Draper or something like that, when we have a power cut, it's the one that we put in the bathroom - where being hands free is an asset. Will get some more from there tomorrow.

Well, leaving aside that the people on here who have them like them, the fact that you can "pay a few quid more" for what looks suspiciously like the same one in Argos pretty much disproves the theory that paying more gets you more. Essentially, they're a bit of plastic, a few LEDs, some wire and some solder. There's not exactly a lot that can go wrong with them!

Would love to get this......but don't want to be called 'knobhead'....so may give it a (p)ass

poor quality, difficult to open battery compartment, heat anyway...

Eh?! You turn the thing at the end with the grip on it and the battery holder pops out! Are you thinking of the same torch? After a week of needing pliers, tweezers and screwdrivers to open various battery compartments on toys, I can safely say this was the easiest thing I've opened for ages!

Very easy to use. And I have had mine for ages with same batteries and still going strong. Always comes in handy when you have a tooth ache and you give the girlfriend the head torch to have a look.

Just a suggestion I don't have a girlfriend ("-)

grrrrr grrrr not very happy....

what have you done with/to him?!

Ok to use at home for the odd emergency every now and then. For outdoor use totally useless. For a quid though can't moan too much

I bought mine a few years ago from poundland, maybe they're better made now.
