false economy from poundland again. The build quality on these torches is shocking but I suppose less shocking given it's poundland. Still, as long as you know it's not meant to last very long.

Infact, I'd strongly encourage you to check it's working before you leave the shop.

Had one of these...

Maybe I was clumsy with it, but it didn't last a month.

A bright (also small and well build) torch is one with one CREE XM-L LED, such as this one:-UltraFire 1600Lm 12W CREE XM-L T6 LED Zoomable Zoom Flashlight Torch Lamp 18650

I agree with the gist of your post, but the lumen rating of that torch is exaggerated by about 2 or 3 times. Still extremely bright though, and will shine much further than this one due to the lens.

Yes that seller exagerates, however I've got an old (still going strong) Ultrafire 501b which is rated at 325 lumens, the one above is slightly brighter, but has the advantage of zoom and also a slightly warmer LED colour. Easily the best torches for the price you can buy, but people often need educating that 18650 and CR123A Li-Ion batteries exist and are brilliant.

We purchased one of these along with a pack of batteries (Kodak Energiser so similar..) and either the batteries were a fraction too big or the torch was too small.

Are very good for less than £3 delivered. The picture is very misleading and I don't know why they've changed it. Its the same thing as mccririck post.

Forget lumens. I've had 5 of these and even with a Duracell they are good, and a bit better with a 14500. Endurance is not great but for a handy pocket torch the are amazing. For a cheap torch they punch way above their weight.
